Hell Survivor

I am new to the forum so I am not sure how many here are from my area... I live close to the Hell Survivors Field in Pinckney and have not played much elsewhere...
Wondering what kind of games are played at other fields.. Not "big events", sticking to open play small style games. Besides "capture the flag" and the traditional "red vs. Yellow" what can shake up an open play day ??

That is a terrible name for a field....

that aside, there are tons of games out there, stuff like red rover where if you get hit, instead of being out you switch sides, game ends when everyone is on one team. Respawn games where if you get hit you have a certain # of lives so you can come back in once you respawn usually at your starting point. Protect the president game types where you have 1 VIP. Civil war where you either have to breach load 1 paintball at a time and play like normal, or each team stands in a line and fires once, then takes a step forward and the other team fires once etc.

The problem is that most every game you play ends up turning into an elimination game.

Yes. Unless it's unlimited respawn, no time limit capture the flag games, it usually will devolve into elimination.

That said, the breach loading games can be a lot of fun, and a great reason to use a mech (no accidentally shooting yourself while loading).

Locally, we play big games using center-flag.

Outside of that - Most of the day is spent either team elimination, FFA (for low attendance), or objective.

Objective is "Get this broken 3 pod bundle, covered in duct tape, into that house, either through a window....or a door."

That last one has a bit of novelty - as if someone gets shot out, someone else has to run up and grab it.

That might be kinda cool to see though.

The image that came to my mind:

Asphalt CQB setup.
Hand drawn chalk hop scotch setup on one side.
Game starts
Players storm off
Lone player trots by the hop scotch drawing
Stops
Walks back
Starts hopping.
makes it to the 2nd to last box.
Cleats and asphalt don't mix
player falls on his ass
2 paint rounds to lens.
fade2black.

hmmm, maybe, normal elimination but if you manage to get to the 1 hop scotch on the field, and complete it, you can then respawn in after being hit once. once you respawn you have to go do hop scotch again in order to respawn again

This reminds me of the time that I swung on the swingset during a game on the nuketown field at PBX.

They did an excellent job recreating that field for use.

My complaints are that it didn't translate well - it promotes campy-play (which..to a field...is profitable).

And I'll be interested to see how well the field is kept up. It's one of the 'draw' fields at the park, and if you look at some of the others, they've deteriorated over the past 2 years.

I saw most of the fields during the clown vs zombie game. I feel like it was pretty well taken care of, other than slippery asphalt paths.
