Stalingrad 2005 recap

Oscarine and i met up, had a blast! I made him a Merc before i even knew who he was... LOL!! That was funny stuff.

All in all it was a good day. I seemed to be doing all the talking and trading with the Russians all day, so i barely fired a shot in anger... which kind of sucked but at the same time was kinda cool.

I impressed our General for the 3rd team, or so it appears. I was bringing in as many people as i could, sometimes 6-11 guys at a time. Also making some pretty sweet deals with the Russians for crates, blankets, barrels, and medical supplies.

Our General Rob introduced me to a reporter from APG Magazine who ended up following me for the better part of the day interviewing me on and off, then asking my friends that came along with me about me and who i was and all that other good stuff. So check out APG next month, might be something in there on me

The Scenario ended with the Germans beating the Russians, and who knows where the Mercs ended up. I think i will try to get on the third team again for D-Day. Hopefully.

My only real problem was the crappy paint. My mag couldn't even get this stuff straight, and that's just insane. Also there were a lot of new players this time out that just didn't understand scenario play. I did my best to help them when i could, but they still did some very stupid mistakes. They let my brother walk away with my gun from the Russian base. He told the guard he knew me, and he walked off with it. I reported it stolen because the discription of the kid was a short fat redhead... my brother looks just like me... So i was storming around the field ready to kick someone's ass for a good while. So yea.. NEVER LET ANYONE TOUCH YOUR MARKER!!!

Hope to see you guys at D-Day 2005

- Brian

Sounds like you had fun except for the paint part. I wish South Dakota put on some good scenario games.

So it was your brother? (and you got your marker back, right?)

Sounds like fun. Too bad I moved out west and THEN got back into paintball. I was trying to start before I left but you know how it goes sometimes. Sounds like Skirmish was not too far from were I used to live (Hagerstown, MD). Maybe a couple of hours.

Was it cold? Looked like the temps were in the 40's?

Thanks for the update Brian and look forward to getting my Mag soon!

It was very cold. What made it even cooler was it was snowing most of the time. Not hard enough to suck, but enough to make it look cool and add a very realistic fee to the game.

Yes, i got my marker back. After i flipped on my brother.

EXCELLENT big game...I went with headley, and I brought my girlfriend! it was her first time playing, but I handed her my first gen sentinel and she got lost while I was fixing my old crap scenario gun (storm) took out a handful of people, and when I found her, she had a nice coating of paint on her and wa sgrinning insanely. we went back to the shop to clean her gun, and the airsmith let her borrow his diadem! that was one HECK of a nice gun, I gotta say! I handed her the gun, and she immediately bunkered some teenage girl, but accidentally walked the trigger... I felt so sorry for her! she got like, 8 shots to her neck, shoulder, and ear, and totally thought the two of us were on her team even after she got shot up.

BTW, I forgot to get my permit back from him! who knows the phone number for Solstice Airsmyth?!

all in all, I used ab out 350 rounds of paint that day, and took out a large number of people (about 25-30) my favorite part was when 2 random mercs and myself walked in the middle of a firefight between the ruskies and the nazi's, and screamed "DON'T SHOOT!! WE'RE MERCS!" and they all stopped and looked at each other. then we shot the nazis.
I got a lot of positive comments about my mask and gun (the airsmith I went to to get some replacement o-rings from went "holy ****, I haven't s3een one of those since 1993!") but a group of little kids said something to me along the lines of "you're such a noob, using a spyder clone with co2. and how poor are you? you made that mask out of a piece of sheet metal, stupid noob. my mask covers my WHOLE head, so it's better!" and I then promptly smacked them upside their heads and sent them into enemy territory. stupid kids.
agh, too manyt idiots there, seriously. there were kids going up to the airsmith tent saying "my gun (usually an autococker) doesn't shoot straight anymore, can you get me a new barrel?"
See, they broke one in the barrel, and had NO IDEA what to do.. even my girlfriend knew that she could yank the bolt out of the sentinel and squeegie the whole top tube, and she had absolutely NO paintball experience prior to that day!

the paint sucked, btw

it was worth the $150 spent, especially since I got to drag my girlfriend along, cause she only used a few hundred rounds herself, so she was able to split a case of $77 paint with me (MSRP:$35 a case when it was NEW... MAJOR ripoff)
I hope D-day isn't crap this year, cause we're both goin to that, too!
BTW, it was nice to meet you, oscarine!

You know for being in the middle of...March, you'd figure they woulda been prepared with some cold weather paint, or at least something other than next-to-bottom-of-the-line paint :P

I didn't have problems with accuracy so much, however efficiency was pretty crappy since I had to use a .693 Insert to make sure it wouldn't be to big for the barrel, 1 break for the day but it was my own fault for somehow putting my hand in the way of the backblock as it was firing.

My brother didn't have any breaks but his accuracy was miserable.

Heh Mike's mask was pretty neat, kinda reminded me of some of the Roadwarrior masks for some reason.

Being on the third team was a stupid amount of fun, lots of neat little things to do, had one fight where my brother and I were held up by some Germans whose leader attempted to maintain security by keepingto guys watching us.... only to get distracted by about 5-6 Russians. We started out firing in the general direction of the Russians, only to slowly back up and tag most of the German team, so much for security :P
