real grenade launcher....... well sorta

ok right now the granades that go in the launchers that mount the markers

are more like shotgun shells than granades(not counting tippmann ordanace because its like $700)
what about a shell that shoots a small granade slightly smaller than a bannana

bomb that runs off co2 or green gas

i know there would be the risk of the dumb kid who shoots his friend

piontblank in the side of the head but hey it just an idea to toss around

I am developing grenade launchers for the tank that I am making. You can see the base for this tank in my other threads both here and in the automobile section.

The hard part is not the launcher, that's the easiest part, it's developing a shell that is safe to use. I currently have an idea to make a safe shell, but the problem is funds right now. I do not have the spare money to make the launcher (roughly $20) so my efforts will be made at a different time when I have the time and money to work on this project.

i was thinking more along the lines of these(see pic)

but with a central hole and the gas could be filled from the back of the shell

so you'd hav to do is load the genade in to the shell with the end the paint

comes out of folded so no paint comes out in the shell load it in the launcher

although a hollowed out nerf football with a water balloon in it and holes

along the sides so the paint can come out may work as a rocket

Firstly, what sort of propellant are you going to use? I read CO2, but how effective is it for larger objects? You could also do a rubbing alcohol based combustion for the propellant, I think that is pretty effective. If you had a propellant that wouldn't rupture the canister or container you could fill (seriously) condoms with paint and tie the ends off. That would serve pretty well I'd say. Good old canister will work as well, I'd suppose.

well co2 will launch a potatoe like 100 ft so i dont see a reason why it wouldnt work

for a small paint grenade although the camber that would be filled with co2 would

have to be kinda big or be able to withstand alot of pressure

That's why I suggested using the alcohol based combustion chamber. I don't exactly know the design but it works pretty well, if you have enough vapor.

check out www.scepter-combat.com .
They've got all sorts of awesome gear. Including launchers that will fire basically a water baloon filled with paint. Kinda pricy but well worth it from what everyone over on the milsimog is saying.

MXS, one of the largest Scenario promoters in the country, does not allow Scepter Launchers.

With the scenario's I have gone to there are several legal bits as far as launchers go.

Demolitions Characters usually use a launcher that fires the small Nerf footballs. You are usually supplied them at the Scenario game, but you can bring your own. You (as a Demo Character) are also supplied a launcher during a certain mission. But if you have your own that works too.

In MXS and many other games, a launcher that hits a tank with a nerf round kills the tank. If it hits a small building the building is dead and is taped off by referees or the Demo Character himself (becomes neutral while doing so). If it hits a large structure, the wall you hit is dead.

Now when you destroy a building everyone in that building is dead.

As far as I know in MXS events launching paint grenades is not allowed. The Scepter products are not allowed at MXS games either.

My suggestion would be:
Go to a scenario event and check out what they are using. Talk to the people there to see what is legal and what isn't.

You can also go to the MXS website at :
http://www.mxsportz.com/

Check out the forums and ask around.

You only need one. The other 15 or so that people can shoot are just a waste of money.

So every time you shoot you hit someone? an extra couple bps wont help hit them? I didnt think so.

Most of my kills are as a Demolitions player. I said you only NEED one, I didn't say I only used one. And to be honest, I fire 3 round at a time. I didn't say I killed every time I shot, but I also don't need 15+ and two pods to get one person.

I build a grenade luancher that would fire "standard" paint grenades for my last Scenario game But it worked more like a mortar so here are a few tips.

Most paint grenades will fit in a 2 inch PVC pipe almost perfectly. (the tippmann squad-buster is too big)
If your barrel is going to be 12 inches long you should have a pressure camber thats is 4 or longer (Barrel to chamber: <3 to 1)

i will post a pict of mine once i am done rebuilding it (long story)
and i will get to work on a short one for a under the barrel settup and post that soon.

done drawing up the basic plans (just need to figure out how to hang it)

Parts Needed:
2 feet of 2 inch PVC pipe
3 2 inch end caps
1 1/2 inch ballvalve
2 PVC -> threaded pipe fittings (male)
1 T- fitting (used for compressed air lines)

Air source is not in the diagram but should be ~150psi to ~200psi (2 inch PVC is rated to 280 PSI but lets stay below that)
