Would like some input on new game type.

Recently I decided I would like play a game that involves one player with a stock Tippmann 98 custom facing off against 4 players with slingshots. I was wondering if anyone has played with slingshots before and could tell me what they think of it.

There were a few more questions I had like, what do you think the best way to store the paint on my person while in play with a sling, cheap and efficient ways to make barricades and bunkers (I was thinking sew the legs and arms of old pants and shirts and fill them with soil to make trenches. I'll add more as it comes to me.

The main problem with slingshots is maintaining both a usable and a safe velocity since some slingshots can shoot much harder than the 300fps considered safe for paintball and others have trouble even getting a usable velocity. The best way to carry extra paint would probably be a 50rnd pod that way you can easily fish extra paintballs out of it and close it back up as needed. There are plenty of ways to make bunkers so whatever works for you but if you don't mind some hard work you can do a ton of stuff just with a shovel by actually digging trenches and piling up dirt it's cheap and when you are done nature will slowly do the cleanup for you.

how about just playing slingshot ball?

it really takes a lot of strategy and thinking ahead since it takes about 5 seconds from one shot to another

maybe slingshots against a pump, but not a semi-auto

The unreliable FPS issue is one that I've researched, on one hand many people say that it is not possible to reach 300 FPS with a sling, although, Jörg Sprave of the Slingshot Channel was able to break that speed at close range (which doesn't surprise me though because slingshots are his specialty).

When my Daisy B-52 arrives next week I will be able to test the yellow band that come stock on it, to my knowledge they are the weakest of the surgical tubing bands.

Crawdaddy, your idea of the 50rnd pod is a good start. It'll need to be attached to the body somewhere that the player can easily access it, even during a full sprint, with only their free hand. Also it'll need to be able to fasten securely and have a hard shell so as to not lose or squash balls during a dive. What’s coming to mind is a bandolier with several plastic lined pockets, velcro or magnet clasp.

Trbo323, I do intend on playing matches with all slingshots, but I'm curious to see what one person with overwhelming firepower will be able to do against multiple targets that can fire nearly silently and accurately.

you do need people who know how to use a slingshot properly though. and at half range, i doubt a slingshot will have the power to break a ball on someone.

it just depends on the strength of the person firing it. I have heard of cases of slingshots cracking lenses from point blank but on average they will be below 300

it takes a lot of practice to get one accurate though

semi-auto vs slingshot will be far too much overwhelming for the slingshoters unless there are probably 15 of them because then they can keep the semi-auto player down

I think it would be a lot more fun for everyone if it were slingshots on a pump, because then the pump player would have to think a little bit more and not just go in marker blazing but the sling shots would also be able to possibly get away if they make a mistake as well

with a semi i just see a few of the sling shot players making a small mistake that the marker player will take advantage of and then the whole game cascading from there because the slingshot team does not have enough players to keep the semi player down

The more I think about it Trbo the more I’m realizing your right, I’ll have to shelve the tippmann for now.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a reliable pump action that won’t break the bank?

build a cocker. find an autococker for dirt cheap (can be done fairly easily), and buy a pump kit (anywhere from 80-200 bucks). remove banjo bolt, add pump kit. doneski. > 150-300 bucks

buy an empire sniper > ~450

buy a used cocker pump > 250-500 depending on body

buy a used CCM > ~450-500 depending [easily best value personally]

of course, that depends on your definition on "breaking the bank"

spyder hammer 7 is what? $150ish

other than that you can usually pick up a used cocker pump for pretty cheap

or if you just want to try out this idea there is always the brass eagle stingray!
