D-Day go pro mounting options

so wanted you guy's input on mounting up a gopro for D-day

currently I was using one of the little clips and just clipping it to my sandana. I dont really like this as its not very secure and does bounce around a bit when playing. I am wondering if I should attach it directly to my mask (not sure how yet) and where or just go with the barrel mount. Barrel mount is simple but I feel like you always end up looking at the ground

If I go with the mask, anyone know a good way of securing it to my mask? its not like there are go-pro paintball mask mounts made out there.

GoPros are good cameras and highly durable but I just do not like the way they attach to a set of paintball goggles or a helmet. Because the GoPro is boxy, either it is sticking off the side of your goggles or on top.

You are right however about a marker mounted camera. For the most part while you are in motion, you will be taking footage of the ground, or even if you try to keep the marker as horizontal as possible while you are moving, whomever looks at the footage later on is in for a case of motion sickness (unless you really edit your video).

Which brings up an important point - what video editors are the players out there using?

I recently picked up a copy of Corel Video Studio X7 and is giving me some problems.

I decided that if I'm going to run a camera again, it's going to be mounted int he middle of my mask. side mask and barrel mounting give a lot of bad footage.

What video editing software do I use? the one that Microsoft has for free. I don't need to add fancy graphics and intro/outro section.

why is off the side bad? I was thinking of trying to get it on top of my mask but offset a little to the left side since the last time it was right in the middle and you were watching the back of my hopper a lot. since I am right handed, off to the left a little seemed to be a decent solution.

Most players that I know and have seen will play with the marker at eye level, almost smack in the middle of their face or on the right eye if right eye dominate, with the marker at a roughly 45 degree angle to the left is they are right handed.

For this set up, smack in the middle of your goggles is fine if your goggles has a place to attach it to.

I had a contour on the right side of my goggles, and since I use a Tippmann Phenom X7 that has a right side hopper, I was getting more hopper than action. Since then I am using a marker mounted video camera called a SHOT TRAC HD, and a video cam built into a pair of glasses. I have heard some players complain that although the camera weight is minimal, they felt that the goggles were not balanced and leaned a bit to the side where the camera was positioned. I personally have never felt this but do understand it.

off the side is bad because if you're shooting from that side, all you get is the hopper.
Also, it pulls your mask to that side. It's not a huge deal, but you have to wear your mask more tightly than usual.

Whatever you do just try it out beforehand to make sure you are able to get quality footage.

found a good solution and for anyone else looking to mount a gopro on most common masks out there, here you go

http://unanistan.com/store/

3d printed mounts for most masks, around $20 after shipping
