D-Day @ Skirmish USA

Ok, D-Day is a scenario that brings anywhere from 1500-3000 people, as we saw this year. There are three sides, though you can only pick from two.

- Axis: German defenders. Main goal is to keep possession of the entire field and key structures.
- Allies: Main goal is to take the beachhead from the Germans, and capture key positions and defend them. You are outnumbered!
- French Resistance: You canít choose this side; you are assigned to it by chance. Small in number, you basically are mercenaries that cause trouble on the field. Your side typically fights for whoever is wining at the time. A bunch of pansies!

Main event: Beach assault!
The beach assault marks the start of the game. German defenders take their positions, and the allies pile into lines behind their landing craft. Refís start the game, and the Germans come under heavy artillery bombardment. Water balloons, and paint grenades make up the core of this. Then the battle ship New Jersey comes in. It sprays down the German lines with paintballs. This year the Germans had a u-boat that came out and sunk the New Jersey. (Iíll go into what they are later)

Whistle blows, Allies come pouring out of their landing craft. Everyone is firing, and this goes on for roughly 2 Ĺ hours, unless the Allies happen to take the beachhead. The Germans have to hold it for 2 Ĺ hours to get the points for defending it successfully. After that time they can either keep at it, or let them through.

During the beach assault the Allies have ďparatroopersĒ that are inserted at the airfield. Their main job is to disrupt the German lines and take key positions such as the airfield and pentagon.

For the rest of the day:

Allies and Germans go at it, mainly over control of the beachhead and airfield. This goes on till the game ends the next day.

There are side missions that you can choose to do. Some are taking a bridge, others are defending a location for 10-30 minutes.

Game stops at 1am for people to sleep. Games starts back up again at 7am.

Other things going on:

Bring extra money!!! They typically have some great deals there. Tippmann 98cís and ProCarbines were only $70! Not too bad!

Draxus was the main sponsor there this year. Also Armotech, or whatever they call themselves now, were there too. Same with Smart Parts. Of course, Tippmann and Nation Paintball were there as usual.

Where do you sleep?

Well, if youíre a wuss, there are hotels in town. Most of the people bring tents or sleep in cars. It gets really cold there at night so highly suggest a sleeping bag or a blanket.

Terms of d-day:

Beachhead: A wide open field that looks something like a giant hyperball field. The allies are in landing craft situated facing the woods. They attack forward into the woods. The Germans are defending the woods. They cannot leave the woods under any circumstances.

Tanks: There are mobile tanks and stationary tanks. Mobile tanks must have a kill switch on them so that they can be taken out. Stationary ones are just something to hide behind.

Battleship New Jersey: An old school bus with the seats taken out. They pack it full of Allies and it goes up and down the beachhead spraying the German lines with paintballs. Idiots like to fire at it and waste paint. Stupid move!!! If you hit someone in there, they arenít considered out, so itís pointless to shoot at it.

U-Boat: This year the Germans had a tank, that they called a U-Boat. It can apparently attack and sink the New Jersey.

Airfield: Much like the beachhead. Whoever owns the airfield can insert there as well as their main insertion points.

Pentagon: Large structure with two levels and towers. Basically a giant death trap for those inside. Though it is a pain in the butt to take it over!

I think that about covers it. Iíll try to post a thread on the different roles you can play at a scenario later on.

WARNING the Oklahoma 2003 DDay video is HORRIBLE, waste of money, DO NOT BUY.

I am just trying to save some sap 20 odd dollars, with out a doubt not worth the money at all.

Not to be critical or anything, but wasn't the USS New Jersey serving in Pacific campaign? 0?
