Military simulation A5, Ariakon, RAP4,Armotech

Alright. Here it is. Side by side comparison with the real steel. And a breakdown of the components and how they look.

All of the markers chosen were "modeled" after the MP5A4, one of the most recent MP5's in production. Anyone can really tell MP5's apart, form the SD6 to theA2. They all have characteristics of their own. But for this time we're going to stick to the MP5A4

First off, look at the real steel version. Look at the pistol grip and note that there are no fingerslots for you to grasp. look at the length and angles of the stock. In the back of the stock we see the clip where you would insert a sling. On the reciever we have a safety, semi, 3-round burst, and full auto selector switch. notice that the area aroudn the switch is flat, and there are no indentations or milling around it onthe A4 version (on the A2 there is a small milled out area)

Look at where the chamber would be if you cut it in half. Notice the milling and how it compares to the rest of the gun. Look at the sights. Look at the magazine adn the millign on the side of it. Look at the charging handle (on top of the handgrip. Look at the handgrip and its shape. Look at the muzzle. The muzzle can be different, becuase you can change the barrel inside the gun,but it shouldn't be very long. SHouldn't come otu of the gun more then 3 or 4 inches. Some barrels do, but the armotech looks riddiculous.

Now lets compare to the A5. The A5 does have a very realistic stock. Its not on there, but take my word that it is realistic. Only problem with it is that it lacks the same style of sling attachment as the real steel. Look at the grip. ITs curved and has fingerslots... The sights get an A+. Looks nice. Likewise, the magazine looks like it was taken apart so it can't hold bullets and put right on. Looks nice, only problem is that its not removable. This one has the flatline system. Lets take a quick look at that too.

The flatline isn't nearly long enough to be realistic, and the tip is too fat. Likewise, teh ring-like milling is poopie. Doesn't look very real. Also, the milling on the side of the marker isn't very realistic. And remember, this marker is going to have a tank or remote comming off it, and the bottomline automaticly ruins it. Also, the hopper. This one has a quick cap on it so it only holds 30 rounds, but its still there and still looks cheezy. And the charging handle isn't in the front of the marker, its off to the back.

And now, the ariakon. EEk! What is that handguard? is it a lego? Nice try, they were trying to impersonate the RAIL INTERFACE SYSTEM. But it failed horribly. Looks almost like a picatinny, but the two screws adn the shortness of it ruin everything. And where is that barrel going? Is it running home to its mommy? Pistol grip is slanted back a little too far. Teh stock looks very nice,a dn it has the sling clip, looks very realistic. Like the MP5A4, it has the charging handle in the front. Looks cool. The reciever has terrible milling and looks nothign like an MP5. Also, the reciever looks too flat. Its too 2d and drawn out, and it lacks the MP5 curves. The milling is horrible. Sights are good though.

And now, the armotech. Right away I see the barrel. This is supposed to be a small compact SubMachiengun, not a longass rifle. The handguard is tryign to imitate the flashlight, but its too flat. The origonal MP5 is curved a bit. The reciever is UBER dull. looks like my Piranha. The magazine looks nice though. The pistol grip is too high. And the fire selector only shows semi and safe. Stock is great.

Adn now the RAP5. I have no criticism. The onLY thing I can see is that it lacks a 3-round burst marking from the original. Otherwise its 100% realistic in every aspect. Mag, stock, sights, handguard, pistol grip. I mean, you might think I'm giving the RAP4 high ratings becuase I like it, but just look at it. Its flawless. Compare for yourself. I give it an A+. There really is no cosmetic difference.

That all being said, these markers are still all good for milsim. They look A LOT more realistic then a piranha or a spyder. A ton more. But some of them were just trying to make their own designs and forgot abotu hk (get it? forgot about dre?).

The RAP5 definetly takes the cake.

I'll do the M4 versions tomorrow night.

EDIT: I got rid of my biased ratings. YEs I was very harsh to the other markers and very easy to rate the RAP as a 5. So I'll leave the rating up to your imagination.

the tippmann A5 looks nice deck out as a MP5 look a like. I was just brouwsing opsgear web site and looked at the pic there of some A-5s and 98cs and they look pretty cool.

I like the realistic look of the paintball guns they make now, specially with some of the parts you can add on.

about the armo

1) there will be a shorter barrel
2) there will be an "N" handgaurd like the a4
3) the electro selecter will be exactly like the real

and yet you give it a D

theres alot like that with the sim too

also the armo will take just about anything the real will including a retractibal stock and with slight dremeling a real top rail

Compare it to the picture of the real MP5. I dont know if you guys have ever shot or seen one.. But armotech and ariakon are trying to be too unique.

i have shot and held one, dad is a cop... they use an MP5 and a couple Ar-15s on drug raids..

Very impressive guns, but only reason i liked the A5 was because it has the cyclone feed which mean it would shoot alomst like a real one..... ALMOST

The cyclone feed only feeds 13bps. IT says it feeds 800rpm. Thats about 13 1/3bps

You could get a Model 98, and an empire realoder and feed faster then that...

EDIT: A real MP5 also shoots 800rpm,but so can tons of other markers that don't cost 240..

IMO Woods pwns Speed
Expecitally (sp) if you play on a huge field with only a small amount of people, you get to track people around, its much more stratigic.

(Back on topic)
Alpha, that was a great. But with the Markers with bad grades...They still look better than the average Paintball Marker

I said that at the end. They are all milsim, but I think they were trying to be too unique.. Ever see those bad 80's paramilitary movies with the unrealistic uniforms and weapons? Its kinda like that. I'm going to do the M4 series next in this same post..

This morning I also made transparencies of the MP5A4 and put it over the 4 markers shown here to show acuraccy. The RAP4 was unique in every aspect except for a few of the angles. The pistol grip and stock had a little too big of an angle, but its onyl a few degrees. Still gets an A in realism.

Again, obviously an armotech looks better then a spyder flash in terms of realism. Still flawed though.

Have you ever noticed that you're honestly the only one that cares? Take it from me, we're both joining the service and my job has more to do with weapons than yours EVER will. I don't even care about this ****. It's paintball, not a ****ing firing range. Jesus, get over it.

Wow dude. Chill out. I'm not getting upset at anything. I'm just trying to show what is more realistic.

I don't care what my job in the military will be. I dont even know what I'll be able to do, as I haven't taken the ASVAB yet. I am going to be certified 0311 (rifleman) and be proficient in whatver the corps will be shooting by the time I join (should still be usign M16A2's.).

How does this thread have to do with you or me, or ANYBODY joining the military for that matter? Maybe above my avatar? I never mentioned the military. Not just the US uses MP5's. In fact, the MP5 (which I'm sure you know) is made by heckler and koch, a GERMAN company.

Stop jumping to conclusions adn chill out.

Do you play scenario paintball? What forum is this again? I think milsim talk should fall under this category, no?

You have no right to flame me here. No more then you do to go into the review forum and flame people for posting speedball games. Thats like going into a review comparing a cocker with an automag and saying:

"Jesus chill out, take it from me, I'm a professional paintball player, and I use paintball markers more then you EVER will. I don't even care about this ****..."etc.

I'm just comparing milsim paintball markers. If you have a problem, there is a report post button. I just reported your flame for you. Have a nice day, and thanks for choosing to serve in our military. I really appreciate it (no sarcasm intended).

No, but every thread you go into dealing with scenario guns you HAVE to compare them to real guns. THey are DESIGN BASED on the guns they are modeled after, but a paintball player doesn't want an actual MP5A4. He wants something that shoots a .68 caliber paintball reliably at 300fps. The design is LOOSELY based as well off the guns themselves. They don't need to be 100% accurate. In fact, if they were, you'd have a bunch of scenario ballers getting shot by cops.

Yes, I have played scenario paintball. In fact, I started paintball IN THE WOODS. I enjoyed it, but never understood milsim guns. I have 18 REAL guns, I don't need a paintball gun to look like one.

And of course the RAP markers are gonna look the most realistic, they're supposed to! RAP markers are used by police and military for actual training...therefore, they want the gun to feel the msot like the gun they're actually gonna be using.

Sure, the OpsGear guns are skimpy, but what's it matter? A scenario baller isn't gonna care, so you're bringing up a moot point.

WEll, I'm a scenario baller and I do care. Your making generalizations. I like a realistic looking gun. If they're going to make it half assed, why not just use a regular paintball looking marker? I mean, with a spyder you can shoot a 68 cal pball at 300fps. So why don't all scenario ballers just stop it with the cosmetic kits and get other markers. As a matter of fact, why don't pro ballers stop getting expensive fancy guns. I mean, a spyder can shoot a 68 caliber paintball at 300fps, right?

We spend it on expensive fancy guns because they perform better. More efficient, faster rate of fire, no kick, no blowback, etc.

You buy it because it's a body kit and looks good. It's a souped up Spyder.

Difference? I think there's a huge difference.

Nice comparisons and remakes. Only thing is that this is false advertisement for the sport of paintball. Usually this is what people see when they see paintball. It's markers that look too much like real weaponry and they get scared and try to bann it. I like how real the markers look, and I wouldn't mind having one myself. But these markers don't better teh sport. Apart from scenario play if that's what your into.
