We already have one on order (a blue convertible). I wonder how much dealers will mark this thing up. :dodgy:

How much do these cost compared to the new Z06?
Probably $30k price difference would be my guess when everything settles out.

yeah I never could understand why the modern stangs got 4.6s and the maros got 5.7s  i thought it would be nice if ford made at least a 3rd trim with a bigger v8. like it would go base model w/ v6, GT with 4.6, ___ with 5.4, Cobra with supercharged 5.4. kinda like the maros with the base v6, rs, z28 and ss

MSRP on the Shelby Coupe is reported to be under 40k. So, figure at the most $39,999.

The new Z06 MSRP is $65,800

So the GT500 is atleast $25,801 less. However, it weighs around 700lbs more and is 475hp to the Z06's 505hp. So they wont be close in performance. Stock for stock the Z06 would kill it.

Now, compared to a base vette (which is $45,000 MSRP) the GT500 will be faster in a straight line and pretty close around the track. It will also have no problem beating the 425hp 6.1L Hemi Chargers/300Cs ($38,095 msrp) and 400hp GTOs ($33,000 msrp), which are its closest competition.

I can't wait to see the next Mach 1/Bullitt/GT350, the model under the GT500. Everyone has been saying it will get an aluminum block, non S/C version, of the GT500's 5.4L. So figure on 390 N/A hp in the low $30,000 range with lower weight (think 3,600lbs) and even better than the GT500 around the track. I think we will see a lot of these on the road if insurance prices don't kill it.
