it's a process they use to test if a tank can stand up to being used anymore. usually costs around $20. if it doesn't pass they drill a hole through the tank and toss it so it can not be used again. If it does pass they clear it and you can use it for another 5 years.

this is a mandatory test and you will not be able to get your tank filled after the date has passed until the test has been done on it.
If youre' needing to run this test, check out the crossfire website and look for a section about tank hyrdo testing.

Hydrotest

What does that mean?

and where do u need to take it?

can someone explain?
All co2 and air tanks are only tested for a 5 year period. After that they have to be retested for a pressure rating. CO2 especially because co2 is a corrosive. Air just because( a DOT requirement, plus because it is at a higher pressure). CO2 full has a pressure between 500 and 700 psi, Air and Nitrogen can go between 2100 to as much as 6000psi. They have to be tested for safety reasons. Because of the cost if your co2 is over the 5 year period you might as well throw it away and buy a new one because of the cost of hydrotesting. For Air and Nitrogen get it done. They are more expensive.

you should not post things you do not know about, not all tanks are 5 year some have to be rehydroed every three years, you have to check the D.O.T. numbers.

as long as there is any liguid co2 in a co2 tank there is at least 850 psi and it can get as high as 1800 to 2000 psi on a realy hot day. and co2 is not corrosive if it was it would not be used in paintball and other stuff. what do think puts the fizz in your soft drinks

hpa tanks are often referred to as nitrogen tanks, but ntrogen isn't realy used any more cause of expense and comressed air is cheaper, and the air you is somewhere around 80 percent ntrogen. also hpa tanks are either 3000 or 4500 psi there are a few 5000 psi tanks around but not many.

@OG3R,
this is the best place i know of to get a tank hydro tested, plus all the ansewers to your questions can be found here as well.

A burst disk will go before it reaches that point, if not, well go throw 2000 psi into your marker and see what happenes

burst disks are actualy designed to burst at between 2200 and 2800 psi. depending on manufacturer if you look at a burst disk on a co2 tank it will have 3k on it.

CO2 especially because co2 is a corrosive.
Excuse me? Please don't say that again. Matter of fact, don't pretend you know anything again, ever.

You do realize that the byproduct of respiration is CO2, which by your logic would mean you're exhaling CORROSIVE GAS (*oh no run*). Seriously where do you get this from.
