I have been playing woodsball for about 3 years now and our group has kind of fallen apart. To get my fix, I am going to have to break my cherry and play some speedball. I don't have the funds for a new gun, but do have 100 bucks for some upgrades that hopefully will allow me to be at least moderately competitive.

My setup:
A5 e-grip
Stock trigger
JCS PowerTube
Lapco Snapshot 14"
20 oz Co2 w/Remote
BT adjustable Car Stock
X7 hopper.

I will most certainly lose the remote and stock and go with the stock barrel or pick up a short one.

Double Trigger, maybe a JCS?
Drop forward?
Smaller tank?

Any suggestions on how to improve my tippy for speedball would is greatly appreciated!

For $100 you can buy a nice used electro Spyder, a used HaloB with Rip/ReloaderB/B2, Vlocity (Jr.) with Upgrade Chip, or VL-Force, clamping feedneck, and a CO2 tank.

That will do much better than any upgrades for the A5

I'd say you have an equal chance of being laughed at with a cheapo Spyder as you do with an A5. You had the right idea lose the remote and stock and maybe look into a HPA tank with speedball you will be shooting more often and the improved shot consistency of HPA will really help out. Also if you decide to make the leap into speedball and start shopping around for another marker you will already have the tank.

i think the concept of speed ball is having a marker that is, light, compact, consistant, and effecient, I'm not trying to rain on your parade but the A5 has a hard chance doing all four of those components that were mention. Best thing to do is to pick up a cheap ion for like 80-90 bucks used and try speedball if you like it or not. a lot of people say ion suck but honestly for 90 bucks its pretty decent. but hey if you feel that you're A5 can do it then go for it.

No the concept of speedball is fast paced quick games that is where the whole "speed" thing comes into play. I play speedball with a stockclass pump and I never have a problem holding my own on the field the gear really isn't all that important compared to knowing how to use it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am not sure if speedball will become a permanent part of my play. I was hoping just to pick up some speedball appropriate upgrades that would not go to waste when I play woodball. If I just go nuts over speedball then I will definitely get a speedball specific marker. Until then I guess I will just look like an orphaned woodballer with nowhere to play. thumup:

No upgrade for speedball will waste your time. Speedball is all about getting a lighter, faster, smaller gun.
