Today, after doing some work on my local field, I chrono'd my gun and it wouldn't shoot over 250. I turned the screw all the way out, still not over 250.

Anyone know if I should replace the springs inside the A5? If so, what screws do I have to remove, and which springs?

Hello everyone. First time poster here. I tried my A5 for the first time on the field today and I too couldn't get past 250 even with the screw all the way out (and this is with a newly filled tank, just minutes before chrono). The Ref guy suggested to stretch the spring (rather than having to replace it), but I want to make sure this is the general solution for something like this. Thanks!

My guess would be to remove the two field-strip bolts at the very end of the A5 and the end cap peice will pop out --but be sure to hold onto the cap because it may spring out you might lose some parts! ;)

It was weird with mine because it only happened with one co2 bottle and the other bottle was just fine. are there different springs we can by for our guns that will make it easier to adjust the velocity? I noticed with mine if you bring the screw almost all the way out it would lower my fps so i had to find basically the middle to get it to where i wanted it.

Madman makes a spring kit for the 98C, they probably have one for the A5 as well. If not, I'd bet the 98 spring kit would work.

The velocity adjust is weird like that. As you screw it in it closes off the power tube outlet like a choke, which lowers the velocity. As you open it, velocity should climb until the screw is even with the inside of the tube. As you go past this point the empty pocket could disrupt the air and make the velocity lower. And of course, if the screw falls out the gaping hole will cause low velocity as well.

Stretching the spring will raise the velocity, but it will creep back down over time.
Then can't we just stretch it back again?

You're distroying the spring when it's stretched, don't do what some dumb azz tells you to do. Do a Google on spring stretching if you doubt me. If anyone here believes i'm wrong then you're an IDIOT!!

I have a Maddman spring kit in the mail arriving soon. I've read reviews about how the springs included are too long (and more ideal for the 98c) for the A-5 but then I've read other reviews saying it works just fine (you just have to work at getting it in there). The package does state that it can be used with either marker so we'll see.
