I don't know if you guys knew about this one, but I didn't.
So I made a post and you all can share in my new found knowledge of all things Tippmann.

Anti-Chop parts straight from the factory on the New 98 series.

http://www.tippmann.com/product_guide/actTechnology.aspx

Basically, the rear bolt doesn't engage the linkage arm if a ball is caught not fully loaded. The front bolt doesn't move to crush the ball, and the rear bolt (hammer) cycles and recocks.

Tippmann's Quote:

"The new A.C.T. (Anti-Chop Technology) is a patent pending design to help eliminate ball chopping and ensure consistent performance. Using a new technology that has the front and rear bolt working independently of each other, A.C.T. virtually eliminates ball chopping and improves ball accuracy with less barrel cleaning. And unlike other anti-chop systems, our system maintains ball velocity shot after shot and does not have to be re-cocked if the anti-chop technology had to be engaged."

...Also there's a 20th anniversary limited edition 98 that's gloss black with gold plated parts and special logos. Ya'll should be buy me that. C'mon, you know you want to.

I don't really get how that works.
How does it tell if the ball isn't fully "loaded"?
I know I want the new 98.
If you study the animation for a bit you'll see it.

The linkage rod doesn't start off fully engaged like the older 98's did. As the gun shoots the front and rear bolt move forward and the link arm is forced down into the read bolt.

If anything stops the front bolt, like a half chambered ball, the front bolt and linkage rod are stopped and the rear bolt moves alone to complete the cycle and recock the marker.
Will that system fit on an A-5?

No, but I've never seen the cyclone system chop a ball so dont worry about it.
sounds like a really smart move for tippman, i used to have one, and would shoot to fast a have busts all the time
Whats going on? I thought the A.C.T. system has been out for a while now? I thought it was old news? I have it, works pretty good, it basicly dosnt shoot for a cycle then just goes on its marry way shooting happliy.

why wouldn't it fit? I thought the bolts and stuff were the same size.

Read the post man. "I don't know if you knew, but I didn't."

There is no A-5 ACT on their product list. It isn't just the bolt. There's an extra spring and pin in the back of the gun and the casting where the link arm goes is different.
Yeah I saw the A.C.T thing on tippmanns website.. Looks like it works the same way as the spyder ACS but in Tippmann form.
