Hello, just a warning to everyone with Adware or Spyware. These 2 programs may have been running fine, but may not have. I have norton anti-virus, so i have no use for the 2 and therefore have never downloaded them. Today, crap started popping up on my norton saying "Virus Detected :Spyware or Adware" yada yada yada....It has crushed my computer down, well did. When i started 4 hours ago, i couldnt even open up any programs and it was randomly downloaded casino games and installing them on my computer, popping up ads, monitoring my emails and passwords, etc. Now, 4 hours later, i can finally open things up and now post this. The weird thing about the programs it was installing, is that it installed everything like i got the game from a disk (i dont like casino games so therefore i dont even own one in my house) JUST BEWARE OF THESE PROGRAMS AND RUN VIRUS CHECKS OFTEN DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU; IT'S EASY TO KEEP IT FROM HAPPENING. Just open your virus scanner, and set it to do a check on your computer at a certain time of day while your at work or something. (I know i am only 15, but take my word for it or not, its your computer) It's a good thing i was on when this whole thing went crazy on me.

Umm what r u talking about Spyware and Adware are not programs but types of programs which are used by companies as a way to advertise and track cookies to target customers. Maybe programs such as AdAware or SpyBot have these viruses but what you says doesnt make much sense

Sorry buddy, but that doesnt make sense. And when i found the damn virus it was by "spyware" and by it, it said "this is a program used by companies to market and view websites viewed by you" And if you dont think it was a virus, scanned it and all that crap and norton said it was a virus. Im going by what norton said, not by my own opinions. BTW Even if it wasnt spyware that did it, those companies are pathetic to monitor your computers to see what your doing and ****. We have our freedom of our privacy :p

SPYWARE is a type of program, Not a specific program. Norton doesnt just find Viruses. It is not a Virus it is a legit program and is perfectly legal. In those agreements you check off that you agree to on certain sites and when you install programs give them the right to install spyware and adware on your computer. Just dl a program such as spybot and it will take care of it. Im going to PM Nick (HP love craft) and he should be abe to clear this up alittle more

Spyware or adware doesnt normally ask you anything. Download a program such as adaware (www.lavasoft.com) that searches for this stuff and gets rid of it and you will probably be surprised how much is on your comp. It downloads itself when you go to certain websites. It also downloads if you click on pop-ups a lot of times, especially when it is the type where you download smilies or stuff like that.

It IS pretty annoying.

Both spyware and adware is borderline illegal.
Most do NOT ask to be installed, but just do it automatically because windows EXPLORER lets them do it.

Unfortunetly, MOST "free" software from places like download.com HAS SPYWARE.
Also, simple places like geocities and other free websites also try to download spyware onto your computer.

I run adaware weekly, and hijackthis DAILY to keep track. Also check your msconfig.

My wifes parents computer takes nearly a HALF HOUR JUST TO BOOT UP because it has HUNDREDS of spywares. They are not computer savvy enough to get rid of them, so they just build up.
WHen they start explorer, they get about 30 popups!!

Its crazy, and I hope they make it illegal.... not that it would make a difference.

And warpstoner, stfu you dont have the problem, all i did was do a search on yahoo for paintball and it started happening...so you dont know anything. *edit* ok, i checked my msconfig and turned off the crap that kept coming up, and it doesnt come up anymore, thanks Lovecraft

SPYWARE is SUPPOSED to help u find viruses and **** on your computer and delete them. it actually installs them onto your computer in the first place. the only way to delete them from ur comp is to get a REAL virus program. I have Ad-Aware 6.0 and ir is great. about twice a week it performs a search through every single file and deletes anything that contains sumthing bad. the first time i used it it deleted somewhere around 350 programs that contained viruses.
