'Cocker 3 way should do the trick, if you used the ram as the firing mechanism.

A mini-cocker front block would do the job. Nothing special, stock pneumatics will do, although an externally adjustable lpr will be easier to work with than an older internal-adjustment lpr. You can even screw the tank directly into the vertical asa. I don't know how you would seal the part that lets air into the valve though, but I guess thats what makes it a science experiment isn't it?

Do you ever contribute to this forum?

Just get a hydrolic(sp?) arm, you could probably mod it to accept a tank.
You obviously dont get the joke. You did have a good idea though :dodgy:

just figure out a way to get the piston to push the rod and you're good. i think the piston should be able to pivot as well, otherwise the arm wont move very far

actually, it would probably be easier to just have the end of the rod simply resting against the end of the arm, and when the piston pushes the rod and the arm swings, the rod would just slip off the end of the arm. this all depends on how heavy the beanbag/arm is, and how strong the piston is

if you are building a catapult that will be in a distance contest, i can tell you from a TON of personal catapult experience (my first love before i found potato guns) that your best bet is easily a torsion catapult. you can see how they work here http://www.redstoneprojects.com/trebuchetstore/build_a_catapult.html (just make it whatever size is necesarry)

one of these will absolutely wreck the competition, and no one will think that wound up string would actually be able to hold this kind of force behind it. keep your fingers clear of the stop bar, or they will break. also, be sure to make it out of hardwood or it will tear itself apart

edit- damn it has to be air powered :dodgy:
