basically looking for a gun under $200 that meets the following.

range and accuracy.

plus the option to upgrade or modify.

Something that more or less will take a beating and work well in the dust, dirt and hot weather.

easy maintenance.

the tl-x is pretty good, and i be it's price is going to come down, it was just more e xpensive because it was new. it also comes with a bunch of extra features like a drop forward. You wouldn't really need a reg because it runs on co2 mainly because it's a beginner gun. you could also get a teardrop barrel, it wouldn't be very expensive, and it would be pretty accurate with the new barrel
i'd say just get a mech 2K4 Piranha GTI for $100, and a 20 oz co2 for $20 and and any old mask, and a revvy.
na for 200 on a gun id say, an eforce sts or ext. they are really reliable and for once the stock barrels arnt all that bad
spyder tl-x with a teardrop barrel, it worked for me, it'll work for you :D
uummm.. yes.. this my first gun... I took my son this past weekend & so I'm actually look for a pair... I have gone one other time.. I'd like to go more but damn if I play with another rental POS...

What about those Dragun TES... like in that other post.. I looked at those... they look nice and i can get one off the internet for about $150..

Also I "overheard" some differences between compressed and CO2 I'd rather go with the compressed based on what I heard... Opinions? I'd rather have something that can last a long time vs other factors.... so if that nixes the compressed fine...

re: tippmans... I'd rather not use em... that's what I rented and I was extermely disappointed... Both my son and I had to get new markers half way through the day... miss fires, broken bolts, trigger jams... screw that...
i would definately recommend getting a dragun tes. as for the compressed vs CO2 thing. i think ur talkin about nitro and that is a lot more expensive than CO2 but is more reliable. basically i recommend CO2 since this is ur first gun.
booooooooooo tl-x

tes all the way!!!!!!!!!!
100 - 2k3 e-force piranha with bottomline
35 - v-force shield mask
70 - evolution II (egg) loader
20 - 20 oz co2

225 bucks and you've got yourself a paintball gun that rips

or a t.e.s. but that's going to be 300 for a setup that can utilize the bps potential of the gun
who puts a HPA tank on a piranha?
i do fool
Honestly, if you want to invest some good money on a paintball marker, you shouldn't really put a price ceiling especially if you intend on paying for nitro/HPA. You get what you pay for man.

Anyways, a Dragun T.E.S. is definitely a good investment. I don't know much about it but I keep hearing that the T.E.S., E99 Avant, and Imagine are great beginner guns.

HPA is definitely more consistent than CO2 and is much cheaper to fill, I think. Crossfire, Centerflag, PMI, and Java are some brands to keep in mind for HPA tanks.

If you want to save on the electronic loader, get an Empire Reloader or a ViewLoader Revolution.

The V-Force Shield mask is pretty good and I have not had any problems with it fogging up.

The Smart Parts Progressive and Tear Drop barrels are both good barrels as well as the J&J Ceramic and Custom Products one-piece.

Be sure to check out pbreview.com on these products so you can make your final decision. Now it's all up to you how much you want to invest...
