I went to tippmann to have my gun serviced because it was chopping like crazy. The first thing to check is that finger that is molded onto the side of your gun that goes into the cyclone, if there is a sharp edge on that then you should file that off so its smooth. Also you can sand down the edges of all the blades on your cyclone just a little so they are smoother. Also sand any other edges like top and botttom edge of the finger. It doesn't take much. They did that on my gun while I was there and I asked them (the techs) about the soft paddles for the cyclone in case I ran into chopping problems down the road and they said the WarGear paddles are the only ones out there that would be good because the paddles actually lock together. With some of the other paddles they get worn out quick. So those are the ones I'm planning on getting if I chop more paint in the hopper. I haven't had any problems since the sanded down the edges though so I'd give that a try first. You can just give Tippmann a call and ask them about it too. They are pretty cool guys.

You should have just bought another hopper. The cylones aren't too good. Go with a Reloader B, Halo, Velocity or some of the new loaders like a pinokio or rotor.
Do you have a choice on the X7 or A-5 besides the cyclone? I didn't think you could use anything else.

To be fair to the guy, I don't see where the OP specified that he was talking about a cyclone on a X-7 or A-5. Some people do put them on 98's......

Granted it's probably safe to assume that, it's kinda unfair to burn the guy on your assumption.

EDIT: I just looked at the guys profile and saw he uses the A-5.....Oh well, not everyone looks at people's profiles before they post..

I've read about the chopping problem in the cyclone feed for the x7 and A5. Is this caused by the paddles inside rotating to fast when a upgrade to increase the speed added? Or can it be caused with the stock set up, with it being fired fast?

I figured that it would be better to ask here than make a new thread.

the problems usually come about when people start adding upgrades but the wrong paint can also do it, or if the planets are not aligned right, or if its a new moon, o and if you eat tunafish the day before, basically there are a lot of situations that will turn the cyclone into a blender, but it will gennerally work fine with a stock setup and some decent paint

FYI the TechT paddles are the original and better product just about all the Cyclone upgrades out there are ripoffs of the TechT models.

The Cyclone on its own works just fine as long as you aren't running super brittle tourney paint through it or trying to get your A5 shooting at Ego or DM speeds. The A5 is a lowend mech marker if you want to shoot 30bps you are going to have to spend the money upfront on a decent electro and hopper.
