Ever like a band, then all of a sudden its the best thing since canned bread adn everyone is listening to it, then it gets played every 10 minutes on the radio? Within a few weeks, the song has lost its catchyness.

You know that sogn Jump Around by House of Pain? Well I had their cassette a WAY WAY long tiem ago (at least 10 years ago), and I used ot listen to the song Jump Around at least three or four tiems a day. Within short time, the song just wasn't good to me anymore. In a while it gets it coolness back though..

But the same thing happened with Sublime. Again, this is a good 10 years back before Bradley Nowel ODed on heroin and all that. I friggin loved them. Again, time of cassettes. I had all their tapes. Used to play diddy kong racing while listening to 40 oz to freedom.

And then all of a sudden, people ar elike "OMg have you heard that new band Sublime???" And their the best thing evar.

I like music for how it sounds, not for how cool it is to other people. I like Tupac, I like Sum 41, I like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park, I like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix and just about everythign in between. Techno, Rock, rap.

Any of you know what I'm talking about, or is this just another one of my emo rants? While I was shovelign with some friends we were talking about that.

Ever see the episode on that old Nick show Doug, where all of a sudden the clothes he wears is the new "in" thing, and everyone is wearing it. Then the next dya everyone is dresed up like skeeter. SAme deal.. Man that show is old.. rollin:

I know how you feel, it happened to family guy, only not a song. Now it's kinda happening to disturbed, it used to be just a select group of people who listened to them, now everybody talks about them, it's so annoying.

Why is it that some people get mad cuz more than just a few people listen to a band?

Just cuz you heard of the band first doesnt make you cool or anything, get over it. theres a reason everyone started listening to it, cuz its good. when it changes is when it sucks

Bands that sell out do suck, of course. Blink 182 is the epitome of sellout and i hate them for it. Back in the days of dude ranch, chesire cat, and even enema of the state and a little take off your pants and jacket they were cool, but slowly they got gayer and gayer, then went totally *** on everyone.

i see where your coming from, but if you truly are a fan, you would be happy that the band is finally making it big

like i was a huge all american rejects fan. all i listened to about 3 years back. then all of a sudden everyone and their baby sister were listning to em. kind of pissed me off, but im still happy that the band made it big.

besides, when something gets "big", just put the cd away for a couple months, wait for it to get played out, then you can bring it back out and rock to it again

What some people fail to realize about bands that sell out, is that they are doing it to make a living.

I mean, would you rather get paid chump change in a coffee shop, and work at McDonalds to make money, or would you rather become famous and sell multimillons in record sales doing something that you love and think is fun? I choose the latter. Relate it to getting sponsored in paintball. Would you turn down a contract from DYE if they handed you free DM5s and paid you millions to play paintball? I think not.(Not that paintball sponsorships hand out nearly as much money as record labels do, but you get my point)

I listened to AFI 6 years ago when they were completely unknown and I guess what you could actually call real punk. Then, like two years ago, they hit it pretty big, and alot of people in school were all "pro-afi". I dont blame them though, I mean, if they are happy, and they are making a good living doing what they like, then more power to them.

I will admit though, hearing a song you like 4 times a day on the radio wears it down pretty badly. But thats why theres an off button and more than one station.

If you change your music to make more money even though you know it's not good and you don't like it as much, then good for you but don't expect to keep any of your musical integrity/respect, because you are a music whore.

Just like there are art whores, there are also music whores. If you don't know what I'm talking about then there's no point in explaining it anyway.

bands shouldnt have to sell out to make it big though.

****ing mtv and much music ruined music...
music is at a stand still, no wait, it's sinking, in the new culture do-do.

I pretty much just listen to indie underground music now and some early to mid late 90's not so known stuff.

Led Zeppelin is the epitome of this fact. I hate going to school and seeing kids jocking Zeppelin shirts, and when you talk to them about it, the only song they know is Stairway to Heaven. Plant hated that song because it got them popular.

In Flames for sure. They used to be good. Jester race and black ash inheritance were real melo-death. After that, they started to suck and become more mainstream with each album. Soundtrack to your escape was one of the worst releases ive heard in metal in a long time. Hell, I even threw it away.

Dimmu Borgir was another one. I loved the old Dimmu Borgir when they used to sing in all Norwegian. No, they were never black metal. Rather their own unique style. Stormblast was one of the most beautiful pieces in Metal ive ever heard in my life. But, with each album they became more mainstream and completly sold out and changed their style just to make more money. Its a shame, it really is.

cky. they used to be so fanbased, not too underground, but they NEVER advertised anywhere. now they use viva la bam as advertising, they have like hundreds of merchandise items, and they dont really care about their fans *as much*. idk its hard to explain with them, ive been folllowing them for a while and they just seem less and less down to earth as they used to be. sublime is also a perfect example. sublime is probably the first band i ever listened to. my older brother had 40 oz. to freedom, i always remember setting up his radio and popping the cd in then going on to play street fighter on SNES. ahh classic times. 311 also is getting WAY too much attention. my older brother also got me into them a while back, now everyone is obsessed with them.

funny how people complain about bands becoming worse and worse...like In Flames, I think their newest cd kicks ass, I haven't even heard any of their older stuff.

and in my town, there is really only one rock station. there's at least one "classic rock" station that plays the same 20 songs every day, and an "alternative" station that plays wannabe punk and other pussy-rock (and also sounds like an AM station, and all the songs seem to be sped up a few beats and a little higher pitched). of course, the rock station has WAY too many commercials. they claim to have 50 minute rock blocks, but they seem more like 20 minute blocks. rather than changing the statino every time they play "Fight for your right" by the Beastie Boys or "Pet" by APC (my god I hate those songs now), I just switch to my cds

Linkin Park.

A friend and I liked them way before anyone ever heard of them. Obviously they're pretty popular. Not really much of a problem...Well except their new music SUCKS. That and they are literally played every 15-20 minutes on the stations around here. Same songs too.

Muse, but not really. I've liked them for about a year, they gained a tiny bit of popularity here in the States, which I think is awesome. Thankfully they haven't sold out or anything.
Rammstein sort of. I first heard them probably 3-4 years ago. Now everyone knows of them. Powerman 5000 sort of. Same thing as Rammstein.

I only really care about the LP thing. It annoys me how their music has chanegd. Hybrid Theory is such a good album, and Meteora is so overplayed and just lacking.
