Just ordered a new JT Flex 8 full coverage camouflage to replace my pathetic VForce Armor mask.

Thats on top of standard forest BDU pants and long sleeve shirt. Plus my gun setup is all gaffers taped up with the same pattern.

Yesterday I was being stared at through some brush - about 10 feet away, and was not recognized as a presence. I was looked at SEVERAL times by the same guy who kept checking. All I was doing was staying in a tight crouch and keeping my marker tucked in. No camouflage on my VForce Armor as it fogs badly with any vent hinderance.

I don't understand why some woodsballers don't bother. Easier to see, easier to shoot, no?

yep, i hate playing with my friends in woodsball, they wear full suits of camo and since he has a backyard full of nothing but brush its pretty hard to see them when they are in the brush, they walk up right behind me somtimes and wait for a easy shot cuz i walk right past them in the path somtimes.

But isnt that a great feeling, sitting in brush and having them look straight at you and they walk by, i love that feeling maybe thats a bad thing because you feel like your not there lol but i love it!

Same here. I just go in with my yellow Evil jersey.

Since I go to a field with soldiers (Fort Campbell Paintball, its like, less than a minute from Fort Campbell), I get some strange looks, along with the other 'ballers with speedball jerseys.

I like the tiger stripe camo's better than the army issue.... the tiger stripe ones are sweet.... and if they say wearing camo is taking it too seriously then they are retarted... :)

The only problem with spraypainting your mask green is what do you do in the fall and winter when there is no green?

I blend right in with the big yellow bunkers I play behind.
I dress up like geometric shapes and trick people into thinking I'm not even there.

Seriously though, camo is great in the woods if you want to camp a location or creep around. If you're moving quickly and constantly you'll be seen just becaue of the disturbance.

So, fine if you want to wear it. Fine if you don't want to.

On that note, I wear my camo in the woods. And I have no problem camping my flag the entire game if the rest of the team wants to run around on offense. Hell, one game I set up next to a black-berry plant and ate them while I was waiting for the other team to get close enough for me to take single shots at them with the pump gun I was using. Worked great...I had become the ultimate camper.

^^ultimate camper? nay. you relied on the environmental cover as opposed to movement. you had to fight tension and remain calm to queue up the right shots so you wouldn't reveal yourself. Its alot more than just camping.

Camping is a term that stems back from the days of Quake DM - it was a player who who wait by known spawn-points to kill newly spawned opponents. They would "camp out" until necessary. It was totally unfair and really really lame. Its in all multiplayer FPS now, in some form or another.

Now it has found its way into the real world of paintball for whatever reason. I would say the term is applicable in speedball far more often than woodsball because speedball would be the equivalent to deathmatch and staying holed up during all that action just to keep a good "record" and woodsball is not like that at all - the action is not immediate and the rounds are longer. The environment begs to be used for concealment and speedball culture doesn't really emphasize concealment all that much. They emphasize cover, but not so much concealment and forget about camouflage!

Just my two cents on the term "camping" - use it as you will, but know where it comes from.

I'm going to use Digi-camo here soon enough. I like the way it looks. Plus, it's readily available to me (Ft. Campbell is like...RIGHT there)

Some of the mossy oak and realtree stuff is insane but it costs a lot to.. I use older style military BDU's. Works pretty good. Like someone said when you're moving they see you but when your not it helps a lot. Wearing black or brown works good to. I have a camo tank cover and a camo hopper cover. Now if my mask was camo.. : )

Exactly, moving is moving and the eye picks that disruption up immediately. Anything that is the same colors as your surroundings and breaks up the continuity of the human pattern will work - in theory.

Digi camo works... I play with one or two guys that use it and it is difficult to see them when they are distanced off and standing in front of a complete backdrop of brush. Even if they are just standing there. Fortunately they don't feel the need to tape up their guns and masks so I look for that.

I did spray paint my mask and hopper green and brown. I works even in the winter and fall(its better than shinny black). Plus i wear full woodland camo, and my gun is camo too, its almost impossible to see me when i get in a good spot, i have gotten many ppl out cuz they couldn't see me.
