I have to write a paper on this subject. This is all my teacher gave me. So, I decided I would talk about how communism in its true form could be a good thing. But because of the greed of people it has yet to be achieved.

Is this correct? I know nothing about communism at all. I'm currently reading a Wiki on it. My main question is, what is communism considered? I think I remember hearing somewhere that it is not a form of government, but rather something else. Like a social thing.. Some of you might understand what I am trying to say.

Anyhow, can you answer that question for me, and I think it would be helpful to give certain stances on Communism and if it is good or bad, or neither. I have zero knowledge on it, except whenever my dad is mad at something he says "Those communist bastards."

How is it the best gov't ever? I whole heartedly disagree. When you consider its origins and its ideal form it has merit, but otherwise, its practicality is rather, well, null. A constitutional aristocracy on the other hand... well thats not so bad, but not perfect either.

One must consider this... men are essentially evil, and laws are essentially holy. Thus make the law as unbiased as possible. Word up Aristotle.

Totally arbitrated answer... back that **** up!

Do you think my teacher would accept the following thesis? This is an 11th grade Honors World History class.

Communism, in its pure form, can develop into a successful social organization. However, Communism has yet to be displayed in its true form. The greed of others has lead to corruption of Communism, and because of that Communism will not work.

Well, is this supposed to be about your opinion of communism? If I were you, I'd first write about the origins of communism, then talk about its influence on the West and East (Revolutions of 1848, Russian Revolution of 1917, Chinese Civil War, etc). After all, it's for a history class, so I'd focus on the historical aspect and leave your underdeveloped opinion out.

Do you make a distinction between socialism and communism?

Read the book 1984 it will help your paper
How long would it take me to read this book?

Thanks, I'll do that in the paper. He wants the thesis statement to be 3 sentence. But this is good, it gives me more to write about in the paper.

What sucks is that this teacher doesnt read anything, hes just going to check for length and format.

You can't be serious.
Actually I was serious, but I'll admit its been awhile since I've studied classic philosophy/politics... Who am I mixing Aristotle up with, then? I thought that was his hypothesis, and that the subsequent success of a 'city' was based on the quality of lives lived by the people.

No, I was just disagreeing with the overall concept. If you'd like to debate it, I'd be more than happy to.

True communism has never been attempted, so you can't say 'it doesn't work', we don't know if it doesn't work or not.
And be very careful when you make generalizations on the nature of human nature. Many great minds have very conflicting views as to what human nature really is. If you're going to say we are all greedy and need laws then you'll have to acknowledge that you are writing from a Hobbesian perspective.

i suggest you go grab a copy of The Communist Manifesto" from your library. It's like less than 80 pages and is a quick read.
