Hey guys, 1st post here.

I am kind of a noob to paintball, and I just got a Tippmann 98 Custom ACT. I want to get a cyclone feeder, and I was wondering if it is easy to install.

If not, I can just bring it to my local store so they can.

if your new to paintball guns it will be harder to install but i am pretty handy with that stuff so it wasnt very hard for me. You mite wanna take it to your local shop, or become familiar with the gun then install it.

btw have you done any test firing. If so how does the ACT work. pm me back details

installation isn't too hard...if it's your first time working on it, though, putting in the new power tube might be tricky. im gonna say it took me like 40-50 minutes

i agree what whitelightning said, should be about 45 minutes to install, the only thing is remember what parts go where, if anything search for your gun skimatic and have it open on your comp. if i was you , id take the gun apart to get familirized with the internals before anything..

I really don't think he has to put a new powertube in. I don't know if the powertube is different in new custom and custom pros, but when I got my cyclone the powertube in my gun was the same as the one I was given. All I had to do was connect the hose to the side of the gun and hook the cyclone to the gun.

Yeah, Decker9, I understand. I tried to work on my Tippy Custom Pro (tried to flip the ASA backwards to even out the weight of the gun) and I broke damn near everything inside of it. =/

DONT GET THE CYLCONE!!!
Buy a halo or something but DONT GET THE CYCLONE, because cyclones are bulky and they limit your firing rate. You will never go over 15 pb/s. Plus they look retarded on the 98's. Dont get the cyclone!

tippy a-5 is right, the cyclone will limite you and if you ever decide to upgrade your 98 to suit speedball, then your capped at about 15
if i were you id get a high end hopper: halo b, empire b, vlocity and get an egrip with a was board
that would make a beastly tippmann

get the cyclone feed...it's not bulky at all...your hopper, i think, even rests a bit lower towards your gun...why shoot more than 15bps anyway?

YES IT IS. It sticks out of your gun therefore that would be bulk thats what bulk is, and since it is bulk then that would make it bulKY. Dont say well its not THAT bulky, because it is. If your playing speedball or even woodsball and you are snapping out of the side of a bunker the cyclone and the cyclone hopper stick out like a sore thumb and are easy to hit and since marker hits count thats the same as getting hit in the mask, your out. And why shoot more than 15bps because againsed someone who is shooting at you at 20-25 or even 30bps you have a big disadvantage. And it doesnt rest at the lower end of your gun, because on a tippmann marker (I dont know if you've noticed) the paintballs feed into the end of the chamber where as most guns feed in the middle of the chamber so a feeder is closer to the front than any other marker.

if someones shooting at you at 30bps that doesnt mean you have to shoot back at them at 31bps. 15bps is fine for woods ball

I'm probably going to take it to the store, I don't want to screw anything up.
That's what I'm doing now. Having the Response Trigger and Cyclone Feed put on for me at the shop. He only charged me $10 for labor. Well worth it since I don't have to worry about losing or breaking anything.
