This morning my father called me at school during 1st period. It was very unusual for him to call me during school hours. When i saw that he called, i also noticed that he didnt leave a message, so i knew something was wrong. Next period, i checked my phone and had 2 missed calls, and 2 new messages. I knew that something was wrong.

Turns out that my great grandmother passed away this morning. I was basically dumbfounded.

I know that when i get to Pittsburg and see all of my relatives and when im at the funeral, i will be very upset.

I just wanted to some of my friends on pbf who go to my school (brock, josh, nick, tom, stephen, alan) that i wont be back untill friday, so just let eveyone else know as well.

Ah, I got you all beat for suckiness of family death.

2 weekends ago (the one before this past one), my cousin was home from the military on leave for a week. He went out with his buddies on Friday into Saturday morning. He got a little drunk (or a lotta drunk) as he was shipping out for Iraq on the 21st of this month.

That morning, his mom found him in his bed not breathing, he had died from asphyxiation (choked) from his own vomit. No one put him in bed when he got home, and he just laid on his back, not on his side like he should've been. He was dead that morning, and I found out later that afternoon on the 3rd. He was 26 years old and never got to make his country proud overseas.

His funeral was very emotional, full military burial. Horse drawn carriage, flag draped over his casket, bagpipes and drums, military honor guard, taps on a bugle, 15 gun salute, everything.

RIP PFC Neal Parker

My Grandma died, but I wasn't sad. She lived a long and prosperous life. She was ready to go.

Sorry to hear that man.

It doesn't seem like hte death of a great-grandma can affect you so much, but I am really close to mine, and when one died, it was so hard. I know what you are going through, and I wish you the best of luck. You will make it through this, it stays with you for a long time, the grief and everything, but you will eventually think about it less and less, although it will always be there with you.
