So I'm debating a few things as far as cars go right now. To fill you in, I have a 2007 Saturn Ion 2.4L 5sp with 48k miles on it and about 4800 left on the loan.

1. Keep my car and pay off the loan in a few years, possibly tint the windows and give it some rims down the line that I like.

2. Sell the car to my Fiance' since she drives a '70 mustang and thus gets crap for gas mileage, granted it is a sweet ass car. But the car bluebook's at around 8k, and obviously I wouldn't charge her that much, so I'd have to wait a while and pay for several more payments so that I will get more cash towards my next car.

3. Trade my car in to the dealer and thus put the money straight towards my next car. The only issue with this is that my Fiance' wouldn't be getting my car, and I think at the price she would be getting it, that it would be a great deal for her and she probably wouldn't be able to get another car of the same quality for the same price.

4. Sell my car privately to another person. The upside is that i'd get more $ from a person probably than for a trade-in. The downfall again, is that the car would not be going to her.

Now, as for my next car. I'd love a Subaru, preferable a 2.5rs or WRX, but we are getting further and further away from the 2005-7 years and those were my favorite body types, but low miles on those are harder and harder to find. My limit here is most likely in the 14k range, assuming i'll have about 2k to put down (being hopeful there). I've been looking at a bunch of cars but nothing really jumps out at me to take that kind of risk besides the cars I already mentioned.

Just kinda throwing my ideas out there, because my woman thinks I'm an idiot for wanting another car  She initially thought I was going to sell the car to her for the price left on the loan plus about $500 for the sound system in it...I laughed. I love her but I already have like 7-8k invested in this car (between payments and sound system upgrades) so I at least need a couple grand on top of what's left

If you do sell, do it privately.
I'd talk her into selling her mustang, and then buying a nice car with that money.
Haha she'll never sell that car. She is just looking to get a newer car with better mileage so she can drive places out of town without getting killed at the pump. This is her car-

Damn, man. If she looks half as good as that car, you did pretty damn well hahaha

I would suggest getting rid of that car to your girlfriend. Give it to her for $6k or so and move along to the next car. The longer you wait, the bigger the hit you're going to have to take when you do inevitably sell it.

I also wouldn't bother putting new rims or any of that stuff on there. It's definitely not a "performance" car so the more you spend on it, the more you're going to lose in the long run.

I figure if I do end up deciding to keep it, that i'll drive into the ground, so I may as well tint the windows maybe put a few more things into it to make it more comfortable/fun to drive(not necessarily faster, I understand 175hp isn't much to start with and isn't worth the money to try and make more powerful) If I decide to get another car later, I probably wouldn't get rid of this. I'd like to eventually get a project car and this would be a solid D/D if I do decide to do that.
