Well this sucks, ok my DM6 has started to leak out of the back cap for the bolt. I JUST rebuilt the bolt and I didn't use the wrong o-ring from the manual. I usually run my LPR at 3.5 turns. I turned the LPR by half a turn and it stopped leaking. I don't understand why it would leak NOW. The rest of the day it was fine but I would like to run at lower pressure, who wouldn't? The thing is that it was working fine before and now it's not so I'm not sure if it's something else that I might have done. This is the second day running on the new o-rings, same settings I always use. I'm not sure if an o-ring went bad already I don't know which one it would be though. I wouldn't mind rebuilding again but I mean, they are brand new. Any help?

sorry i didnt see this sooner, but

welcome to the world of high end markers, they are like women, one day they are fine with you, the next day they are hissing and moaning over something little. thats just the way it is, dont get stuck on thinking one set of settings will always work, it wont, small temperature changes and humidity can do funky things to high ends and balanced spools especially. Im assuming you replaced the o-rings with new ones for arguments sake, also there is a o-ring on the back cap that could be causing it but the two on the very back of the bolt are your most likely issue, while LPR pressure, as long as you have enough pressure to fire the marker, shouldnt play into it, again, its a high end, they do funny things sometimes

if you have any dm6 questions feel free to ask, iv been shooting one for years and am the self proclaimed dm6 expert around here

Thanks, well it looks like my marker got past it's period and stopped leaking. I changed it because the o-rings where swollen and created CRAZY bolt stick. I just decided to change all the o-rings at the same time. I knew you where, I expected you to be the first on in this here thread and I was right. :D I remember from your sig. I just need to do the top hat mod on mine and I'll be set again. Thanks!

you know iv had the top hat mod on and off of mine, i didnt see any huge noticable difference, the first one i had on it i think caused more bolt stick than anything, i had one come with my orange bolt, that one is smaller (maybe a half inch wide) and it is doing fine, just dont make it too big and i think you will be ok. o also, if you dont have a mix already a oil/lube mix does wonderful in this marker

Thanks I never tried it, I was hoping maybe a pod more but I guess I would rather lose a pod than have more bolt stick. I have unlimited air fills anyway. I was thinking of getting my bolt polished.

id watch the top hat area, the tolerences on that are very tight, any little mess up and you could have some major issues. go try the top hat mod before shooting it down, it could have been an issue with mine as well because my bolt warped over time (no joke, craziest thing iv yet come accross) so when i had the top hat on that may have been playing into it, worst case is it doesnt work and you can take it back off. i also didnt run the oil/lube mix with it so that may help. i actually have a top had mod on mine right now that came with my orange bolt, this one works well, its smaller but also the bolt is lighter

o one thing i would highly recomend for our markers if you dont have it already is a continuous flow plug to get rid of that crazy on off above the reg.

barrel kits are always nice, i have a DW fibur on mine, it seriously feels like playing without a barrel, i love it

on/off asa for sure, my personal favorites are the CP minis, cheap and they work great.

iv also replaced the reg and eyes, but i wouldnt bother replacing these unless you need to, in my case they were not preforming up to par

Oh, do you recommend the o-ring top hat mod? O-ring monkey sells it for 8 bucks.

Yup! I have a flow plug on my DM6, I also have a CP on/off, I have a Hyper 3 on there, Virtue eyes and board, so I'm all set with that stuff! I already had my eyes replaced by Virtue once. Great customer service.

As for a barrel kit, I really want to get a DW Fibur with a freak kit. And later get a TI Boomstick back and have a DW Whip front on it just to have something different. I'm a bit tight on money right now so I'm saving up for the DW Fibur and a freak kit.

top hat mod you can make from an old guarden hose, i dont know that id waste money buying one but its up to you, they are cheap all you really need is something to take up space

fiburs are amazing, and they can take a beating, i drilled mine into a concrete floor, barely scuffed the tip (and i drilled it HARD, i was falling and it was the first thing to hit) one thing i would recomend though is to get a 14" max, that black case the freak kit comes in can fit a 14" barrel in just barely, anything over that and you will have to store it elsewhere

Yup, I wasn't thinking about getting anything bigger than 14", I would rather keep it smaller as a bigger barrel would be useless. I have a Stiffi and that made me like CF barrels. I just need a barrel kit. The Stiffi I have is a .693 which is a pretty good size but it won't match every paint.

ya iv heard a lot of mix about the stiffi kit as well, some say its great others say 1" backs are pointless, but whatever the case you get more sizing options and a lower cost with the DW

when you get it all put together post it up in the rate my marker section, i want to see how close it is to mine lol

heres a thread i made a while back, the two markers havnt changed since then with the exception of the orange CF bolt in the 6

edit: o and black macro fittings on both of them, i just realized that after seeing the pics again

They truly are VERY nice! Great condition. I'm going to anno my DM6, orange frame, eye covers, feedneck, back caps, flow plug. And the rest will be black, I'll put it up when that's done. I also added the Ironmen trigger a few weeks ago. I bo ught it at NPPL at the Chicago open. I was thinking about getting an Orange bolt but I read that a few of them where very problematic compared to stock bolt. So it's either that or a BW Bolt. I honestly don't think the BW bolt will make much of a difference besides being slightly softer on paint and allow me to drop the LPR a bit, so I'm not sure. What's your output on the orange bolt?

Oh and about the barrels, I think that the stiffi kits are pretty stupid, I think that DW Fibur is the best barrel I have sen yet when it comes to price, quality, and kit compatibility. I'm pretty sure it's just as light as the stiffi I have and it's LIGHT.

the orange sam i have helped kick a bit and i believe efficiency a little (im sure thats all the top hat mod that came with it) but for 90 bucks they just arnt worth it unless there is something wrong with your stock bolt like there was with mine. I wouldnt bother replacing the stock one, on most high end markers the producer is trying to squeeze every last drop of performance out of the system already so there is very little room, performance wise for the aftermarket to add on.

i agree with the DW, IMO best barrel kit currently produced

o, one thing though, you may want to keep an eye out for any online store that is getting rid of all their DM6 parts (paintballgateway.com has a pretty good selection) because if that happens they will blow them out for very cheap, if you can find a aftermarket bolt doing that then it would probably be worth it

Thanks! I guess I won't replace the bolt, it's working fine so far.

Oh and about paitnballgateway.com, they are by far my favorite website for parts because they have everything. The thing about my DM6 is that it's preowned. It was the same price as DM6's that where stock so I jumped on it. The only thing is the previous owner was a bit of a pig. This thing had nasty gushed up paint EVERYWHERE. I had to clean it and all that stuff. Lots of scratches, some dents. It was a mess, the frame has a stripped screw for the board. So right now I have a new frame, planned to get it annoed and make it look/work how it deserved. The thing is that it is SUPER smooth. It was literally zero kick. Efficiency is pretty bad though. But this thing has been broken from so much use. I am actually afraid of this, I don't know how many cycles have gone through the solenoid and might need one just in case.

well you could always get a large parts kit like i did, it was $200 but i will have parts for YEARS now, new board, noid, screws, detents, eyes, and o-rings galore

o when you get yours annoed let me know how much it cost you, i should probably have mine redone at some point, its showing some wear

what kind of efficiency numbers are you getting? and what FPS are you shooting at?

I got a quote and it would cost 165 shipped and paypal'd. 2 color scheme.

Shooting 280, I'm not sure exactly I'll check this weekend, I play with like 2 pods and go through around 1500 psi.

Yeah, I was running the dwell at 20, and I just lowered it to 18. I'm going to see if I can bring the dwell down by a little bit. Might try to do some tuning at the field. And I have the LPR at 3 as well.
