Before thinking of buying a brand new marker for retail price, I urge you to check the great deals on ebay. I just found an Angel Speed going for $152.50. Wow, tons of great deals on great markers. Also a STO autococker for $53.

This goes for all players, whether your new and looking for a marker to start out with, or a seasoned pro looking to step up your gear.

Yeah, going for $152.50 now with 4 days left on the auction. Plus possible scams. I rty not to go through Ebay. I'd rather buy from a person the I know and trust or from a trustable store. Ebay is not the way to go when buying a new gun.

There are security methods though, also I would advise not buying items that do not contain pictures.

How to not get screwed on Ebay.

1: Don't buy expensive things from people that don't have a crap-ton of feedback.

2: If you're going to buy something expensive, get in contact with the seller before you bid. Ask tons of questions. This will help you a: confirm they actually have it. and b: confirm the condition.

3. ALWAYS keep all emails, contact info, etc. from sales and purchases, in case you have to file fraud charges.

4: Don't ever bid before reading EVERYTHING in the listing. Never bid before you're certain it's for real.

As long as you're smart and ask all of your questions up front, you're chances of getting screwed aren't really that high. Just don't go around thinking you're going to get a brand new DM4 for $75, and you should be okay.

Id caution against buying expensive items on ebay as well.

I do know that some retaliers sell used items as new on ebay! So watch out. I'd just recommend spending $2 extra and getting free shipping by ordering online at a respected store.

I use e-bay a lot. I will not buy from anyone with less then 25 feedback, and then only if thier feedback is 95% positive or better.

Look at the feedback they leave for other people. If if looks like the negatives left for others are "You suck as a customer" or some such, then that is what you can expect when you try and deal with them with any problem.

A lot of PB stores have e-bay storefronts - these are generally reputable, its the 14 y/o kid with the busted automag for sale with a blurry ass picture and 10 feedback that you have to watch out for.

Be aware of the "Escrow" fraud scam. IT is very popular with E-bay on big ticket items these days. If someone says they are sending you a $1250 check to cover a $500 item (with you sending them a check for the differencce) this is a huge scam that will leave you with an empty back account and no chance of recovering your money.

Read shipping charges carefully -- the HPA tank you just bought for $40 may have to come canadian pacrcel post at $35.00 US or some such.

Know what you are buying. You almost need to know more about the product then the seller, especailly the retail price of what it is you are bidding on. Don't bid $125 on a Spyder Xtra that reatils at Wal-mart for under $70.

Use paypal - it has buyer protection and fraud reporting if you do get jacked.

Someday I will tell you about my wedding --- I bought most everything on E-bay that could be...

Later all.

Good post Medic. I didn't think about the paypal protection. Great point about the whole $70 Spyder going for big bucks too. Too many people forget that if you're looking on Ebay, the whole point is to get something cheaper than you could elsewhere. If it isn't cheaper, don't bother bidding! Try it, look for Sonicare toothbrushes. You can get the 4500 model at WM for like 80ish, and they constantly go up to a hundred on Ebay. Ridiculous! :D

I luckily bought a laptop off ebay for cheap. Before I buy anything else I'm going to bombard with questions and thats a nice point about paypal.

I have about 1,500 transactions through Ebay.

About 95% of those were legitimate, and I was screwed on the 5%.

I ALWAYS do my homework, and read the feedback.
NOTE: A lot of sellers use shills to raise prices AND boost the feedback, so do extra work with medium-low ratings.

I will occationally buy from low-feedback sellers. I just adjust my maximum bid accordingly. (I always use a bid service).

In fact, I just recently bought a car online. Went smooth.
