all thermite is is powderized aluminum and iron isnt it? I know its aluminum and something, and since its in a powder form its flammable, and burns SUPER HOT. its kinda like flour. if you blow the powder into the flame it goes insane, but that stuff burns just sitting there.

Basically, with magnesium as the catalyst (it needs a very hot flame to ignite it, it won't light with a normal lighter.)

We used to use it when we had to burn holes through heavy gauge steel, or melt steel rails together. Now that oxy-acetylene torches are so compact, cheap, and much safer; we don't use it anymore.

It's mean stuff though, not to be messed around with. It doesn't take much to burn right through a desk, and the floor.....and the floor below that.....and the floor below that.:D
