heh, you should see what the rest of the stuff im doing looks like..

f(x)= lim as h approaches zero [(6(x+h)-(x+h)^2)-(6x-x^2)]/[(x+h)-x]

I decided to do this insted of doing my homework

f(x)=ax-x^2

f(x)= lim as h approaches zero [(a(x+h)-(x+h)^2)-(ax-x^2)]/[(x+h)-x]
f(x)= lim as h approaches zero [(a(x+h)-(x^2+2xh+h^2))-(ax-x^2)]/h
f(x)= lim as h approaches zero (ax+ah-x^2-2xh-h^2-ax+x^2)/h
f(x)= lim as h approaches zero (ah-2xh-h^2)/h
f(x)= lim as h approaches zero (h(a-2x-h))/h
f(x)= lim as h approaches zero a-2x-h

as h approaches zero, (a-2x-h) --> (a-2x-(0))=a-2x
so lim as h approaches zero (a-2x-h)=a-2x
that is f'(x)=a-2x

therefore the derivative of f(x)=ax-x^2 is f'(x)=a-2x

yup...

yup. It's SO stupid.. we all know that there is the much much much easier way to do it, but we have to do it like that for now, to make sure everyone understands it.. gah its dumb
