So I want to pull the pump off and put a bolt on. I noticed there's a spring where the pump is. Is that necessary for the function of the marker?

he wants to make it like a bolt action rifle.

while cool and all, you'll have to remember that the stock pump handle connects to the hammer cocker (for lack of better term, as i haven't yet seen one in person) on both sides.

are you planning on milling the body?

and please refrain from calling it a chamber. these aren't guns

From what I can see on mine I just unscrew the connections and attach the bolt. However, there's some apparatus behind the pump that I'm concerned about. I'm not sure if that's necessary for the marker to finish.

the spring in the pump handle is there to help the marker return to a ready to fire position. While it is not entirely necessary without it you just have to make sure that you are manually returning the marker all the way to a ready to fire position before you pull the trigger. If you do a conversion like the one above that would simply mean making sure your lever for the lever action is in the forward position.
