I have a couple grand that im willing to put into my car...and i am saving more up...

i want to sup up my lancer oz ralley edition...

my freind mentioned turbo...and engine with more torque (something like that...) anyway, i am a car-noob,

Now, i wanna kno how i can get my car at its PEAK performance (like...race status) and about how much it will cost (both) all-together, and each individual upgrade...

thanks in advanced

it will likely cost more than if you traded the car in and got an evo

go to kbb.com and find out, you have to put in the year, options, mileage etc.

but my point is, it seems to me that just getting a lancer that's actually made to be fast would be smarter/easier than trying to mod ur economy car

Yup.

If you can get enough scrilla, get a WRX STI. Those > Lancers
no they aren't. Teh evo 8 is quicker in corners and a tad better off the line.

You can improve horsepower and torque any and everywhere on a stock car..
Or, if you're a car nub you can get someone who knows what they're talking about to do it.

I'm not familliar with this car.. Inline 4?
You can increase horsepower with a new hedder or new hedders, whichever the case if its a V6 or not.. You could turn your engines on board comp for higher fuel/air ratios and shift points, etc.
You can gain a few extra horsepower from such things as replacing your Spark wires with some lower resistance, better performing wires. However, talk about installing forced air induction when you know nothing about cars is definitly a no go.. Even if you bought the necessary parts and hardware, the labour for someone who KNOWS what they're doing is rediculous.. Here it's around $70 an hour. Besides, there are performance parts built around strict naturally aspirated engines guidelines, such as high compression pistons.

One of the easiest ways to creat a little extra horse is a Cold Air Intake.. Every kid and their mom has this, and brags about it, but it's worth a good 10 HP gain.

Anyway, if you'll tell me the engine in the car, I can suggest other things if you like.

beyond an intake and exhaust i would do nothing untill you know cars better...

or even better... learn how to drive... goto scca.org find out where a local solo II club is in your area and learn to push your car to it's limits...

if you realy want a fast car... but don't know crap about cars... buy one thats quick from the get-go... you'll spend more making a slow car fast... and replacing stuff that isn't made to hold the power... then you would buying a car that is already fairly quick in stock configuration... even a base WRX will kick the hell outa your mirage... (er oh sorry they renamed the US market cars finaly to meet that "JDM" feel)

basicly buying a slow car cost more money then buying a fast one if you don't know your stuff and have to pay somone to help/do it for you... even when you do know what your doing and can do it all yourself it's offten times cheaper to buy a fairly stock fast car.

the fact that a new stock car comes w/ a warranty is just gravy :)... if you plan on modding right away and braking the warranty... don't bother with a new fast car even... go used.

just my 2psi.

er to add to what i said...

your car makes 120hp and 130 ft/lb while a turbo could add a good bit of power i doubt you'd make much more then 200hp with a kit costing around 4g's... and then another $500 or so to install... depending on how friendly your local ricer/mechanic shop is... and even then you'll have seirously accelerated ware on things like your clutch, axles, gear box ect... which means replacing parts much more offten

looks like your car is worth 8-13g's... depending on year and such...

spending say 5g on a GOOD turbo kit (installed) would be about the same as being able to buy a midly used WRX (not the STI)...

i've seen NEW wrx's at the end of the year selling for JUST over 1g...

another option if you don't care about the AWD would be a SRT-4... with the mopar upgrade kits you can be making SERIOUS power and still under warranty...

basicly... keep and love your car as it is... or sell it and buy something faster...

while your at it... pick up a few car mags... i higly sugest sport compact car...
