I polished me internal recently, and now my velocity is very high. Ive been told a reg can help that, but i dont understand how it works. dose it automaticlly regulate the presure or is there a way to adjust it with a crank of some sort...

Same thing happened to my daughters 98C...her velocity was slightly over 305.

Just grab an allen, and turn down the velocity.
It should be in the same location as a custom, on the left side.

Give it a try (counter-clock wise to decrease).

Clockwise (in or tighten) to decrease velocity on the 98's. It's like a choke, making it stick in further breaks up the air flow and lowers the velocity.

Regardless, you shouldn't need a regulator unless you can not turn the velocity down any more. Even then there are other cheaper solutions like spring kits and so on.

Mine was hiting 350+ fps when i did mine

The reson the vellocity is higher now is the valve is held open a little longer (cause the hammer is now moving a little faster) and that alows more gas to drive the gun.

So lets look at the 3 ways to adjust the velocity of your gun

1. Adjust the Tention on the drive spring

This works by adjusting how long the valve is held open and inturn destermines how much gas is relaesed from the valve. This is how the spyders adjust theres and their are a few kits out for the tippmann but you loss the ablity to install a stock. This method tends to have spikes in velocity

2. Restrict the flow
This is the stock adjuster and it controls the flow rate of the gas from the valve to the bolt. It work the about the same way as when you pinch the garden hose. This method tends to waste a little gas each shot because there may be some gas still flowing after the ball has reached the porting in the barrel

3. Adjust the pressure
This method is prehaps the most consitant and reliable. Works by taking the unreglulated CO2 and limiting the suply to the gun to a set pressure. This also a fects how long the valve is open cause your also adjusting how much pressure is driving the gun. But the benift is that you can find an effiant pressure to drive every thing and each shot will be more likely to go to the same spot.

On a side note My 98c is set to 280 ±2 fps, can hit 17 BPS, and runs at only 550 PSI. I am shot and hit were I am aiming almost everytime.
