Hey guys,

was wondering if anyone knows how to make my marker (Sypder Compact) quieter. I've tried a Whisper Barrel, but it's still kinda loud.

Not dry-firing.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming your using co2 so get an anti-siphon tube installed in your tank which will help damped the noise and a new LP (low pressure) valve will also help such as Maddmans rocket valve and then put on a good regulator such as Bob Longs Torpedo or Palmers Stabilizer and your set. But if you can afford all of that get the anti-siphon tube as it will also help keep out unwanted liquid co2. But Hippo is right post Spyder questions here............ http://www.paintballforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=153

Thanks!

Your gun will always be loud, be you can at least help it.

Going low pressure will make it quieter. The barrel was a good step in the right direction. Making sure your tank is full will reduce that "pinging" sound you hear. Polish your internals. www.ottersccustoms.com A lighter hammer should (theoritically. I haven't changed my hammer) make it quieter.

Oh yeah- your gun will be really loud if when you dry fire. Shoot with paint to see what it actually sounds like.

I haven't noticed any less noise with an anti-syphon tube...

is your gun an electric, im not sure what compacts are. if it is, is it loud when you just fire the gun with out any co2 just by turning it on. my selonoid is really loud on mine so i used some rubber washer to quiet it down and it would still fire. but now i got dye sticky 3 grips and now the sear won't trip since iv added those. you might want to try that. if you want i can probably pm you wiht how i did it.

Hey Guys. Thanks for all the input so far.

Let me be more specific about what I have. I’m a newbie with this, so pardon the vocab.

I use CO2, have a mechanical trigger, an expansion chamber and drop forward. I’m not looking to spend ANY more money on this marker, so any DIY tips would be best. About the “pinging” sound when the tank is not full, will wrapping it in some sort of a sleeve help?

I’ve also checked out www.ottersccustoms.com and have done a few things that he’s recommended such as polishing the bolt and striker, removing the venture and drilling out the vertical adaptor. It’s helped a lot in terms of muzzle velocity and the general feel… but not so much the sound component.

Thanks again.

Getting a reg and lowering the pressure a bit. Not extensivly but if you can lower it by 100PSI then your set. A stock spyder with no reg runs pretty hot. Very high PSI but stock they can run around 500. Not to bad really. Running it at a lower pressure will help it in the sound department. I also have a whisper barrell and im running it on LP. im trying to make it as quiet as possible just to see if I can shoot it in the house without anyone knowing. I thought that would have been cool to do. LoL. But a regulator will definatly help. PM me with a price you are willing to put out and I will respond quick.

Fiki, thanks for the advice, but I really can't afford any outpay right now. BUT!! I'll die happy if I can get it quiet enough to fire the thing in the house without anyone knowing. ;) The GF probably won't appreciate it much though.

I'll bear the regulator in mind for when things look up a little, and hopefully get in touch with you. Thanks again.

I would bet that if you had a pump with a good barrel that's relly quite like a ceramic that it would cut the sound 1/3. Because sence I got my J&J ceramic most of the noise I hear is the bolt clunking away.

If you are dry firing, putting a barrel condom or something else over the barrel will quiet it down quite a bit. On the field it will be wuiter becasue of the paint.

come on guys. give me a LITTLE bit of credit here. I'm not complaining about the noise when firing dry.

but since there's been so much attention paid to firing dry, i had to laid it all down.

an expansion chamber only lets the co2 expand from a liquid to a gas, and then lets it go through, but witha regultor, it regulates how much co2 or n2 is put into teh gun, making your shots more consistent
