Ok, I have $450 (as of now) dollars and I wanted to buy myself some new car speakers for my birthday. I am completely lost, and I was wondering if any of you knew what I should get in terms of price/sound quality. I am probably going to get $2-300 dollars more on my birthday, anyone know? I need a head unit, speakers, and maybe a subwoofer... if you guys think they are worth it... any help would be nice, thanks!
Edit: I was mainly looking to only get speakers and a head unit, but if I have money left over, I will probably get some woofers too.

As much as I love Sony products, I don't like their head units. I owned one, and after about a month the thing skipped any CD like crazy. Maybe it just needed to be clean, but I don't think so. At the time I lived in an area with clean air, and I kept my car very clean, and very dust free. So I don't think I'll ever go with another Sony deck. I've owned one Panasonic, a very cheap one, for my old pickup, and it worked great. The higher end Panasonic decks look real nice and clean, and all my friends' works great.

What's the exact model number on those subs, unforgiven?

You can get better subs than those at Circuit City. I'm sure of it. They don't look like the nicest RF subs, but for $100 for 2 of them, it might not be a bad buy if you aren't looking for a huge performance boost in bass.

Don't forget if you get subs you'll have to buy an amp, a box, and a cable kit. A good amp is going to be expensive to run high powered 15s, a box will be about $60-100, and a GOOD wiring kit will be about $90. You can get non name brand wiring kits for rather cheap online, but I'm not sure about how good they are, but cables are cables right?

www.cmttrading.com has some cheap wire kits, and a lot of other cheap audio stuff. I've never bought from them, and it's all pretty much non name brand, so I'm not sure about the quality of their stuff.

we actually have it all wired up in a box right now. but shipping would be UNREAL. with the box and wiring we'll give it to ya for 150. (he built the box himself but it gets the job done (not the most attractive thing in the world but its in your trunk))
