So i was thinking glass has less friction than titanium and bronze right, so what if someone made a barrel that was like aluminum or carbon fiber or something really light, and then the inside was coated in glass or like a thin layer of it. Just came up with this idea with my friend. Would the glass get dirty really easy? If so there would be a need for an easy way to clean it some self cleaning stuff.

Do you guys like this idea? What do you guys think?

I think Glen Palmer actually made a glass barrel for some tests that he was conducting a few years back. Apparently the finishes of modern anodized and carbon fiber barrels are very close to a 'mirrored glass' finish in terms of friction coefficients.

At any rate, the difference in performance from a modern barrel and a glass barrel are negligible --- so while interesting as a discussion point in the theoretical, it doesn't amount to much in the practical.

The Pro TS G3, I looked in to getting one. The barrel was plastic though, you couldn't see the ball go out but you could see the gases dissipate.

Longbows have titanium backs and there were also cheaper ones with heavier stainless steel backs. They were supposedly smoother than glass.

Macdev uses HDP (high density polymer, basically teflon) coating on the inside of their barrels to smooth the inside.
