So my response trigger finally came in the mail today. It took a little while but i finally got everything installed and put back together. I gassed up my gun and went outside for a test fire. Tbh, i haven't noticed a difference at all in how fast my 98 can shoot. I have adjusted the screw from all the way clockwise to all the way counter clockwise and i just can't seem to find that "sweet spot"everyone talks about. I am using the stock trigger. I used the new, harder spring supplied with the kit. It seemd too hard so i switched to a clicky spen spring. That seemed too soft. Maybe it just takes some getting used to. I hope this is the case because at this point i kinda feel like i wasted $50. Can someone tell me how to tune the rt and give me any tips for finding and holding the sweet spot. I will admit, i only shot maybe 200 times but i was under the impression that finding the sweet spot was something learned pretty quick. Thanks thumup:

Here's a clip from the RT thread I wrote a while ago-



""Gas up, without paint. Head outside with your RT-equipped gun and the small flathead screw driver, and do the following.

Turn the adjustment screw (This is the one on the grip side- The small one inside the air fitting) all the way in until snug. Don't crank it down too hard.
Fire a few shots. After 3-5 it should become near impossible to pull the trigger. This shows that your RT is properly installed and working. If you can still pull the trigger freely after a dozen or so shots, skip the next paragraph.

Now adjust the screw out-wards a turn or two. Pull the trigger lightly until the gun just fires, and try to hold that point. You should feel the RT kick against the trigger and reset it. Continue to adjust and shoot until you find the setting you like. Turning it out-wards makes the RT effect lighter and faster, up to the point where it doesn't work anymore.

If you can still pull freely after a dozen or so shots, degas your marker and head inside. Check your parts and check your install work against the instructions, because something is not right. Pull the piston out of its housing and see if it has grease on it. If not, give it some lube (not oil) like some Dow33. Make sure you have the air line on right as well. Once everything checks out, start the test again.""

Now, If you turn the screw all the way shut and it doesn't build up the pressure, you have a leak somewhere and should tear it down and inspect. It sounds like you already tested though and just can't find the adjustment point.

I use the stock trigger with mine. Thing is, don't try to shoot normally. You won't make it work that way. You just kinda learn it.

Thanks so much Torch for your help with my last several posts. Your help is greatly appreciated. Now, i failed to mention that when i turn the screw all the way clockwise, the trigger does get really hard to pull. It is not impossible to pull but itdoes take a little effort. When i first start to pull it like this it feels like the safety is on. This should indicate that im leak free right? Also, should the piston piece that sticks out from the grip behind the trigger touch the trigger? When i adjusted the trigger i would pull the trigger until it fired then slowly release until i heard the trigger "click". I tried to hold it at this position but i couldnt get it to work. Maybe it just needs more time. Thanks again. thumup:

It sounds like everything is installed correctly. I just added a response trigger to my A5.

It takes a bit of practice - turn it all the way counterclockwise, to the point where the trigger is easily pulled. Start to slowly pull on the trigger, not pulling on it like you normally would. Ease on the pressure until it starts to fire. Try to keep your finger's pressure at about that point, and you should start to get fast firing.

Just practice with it a bit, trying out different pressures. With a normal trigger, you pull your finger all the way back and then repeat. With a response, you just pull it "enough".

Yea. The piston builds up pressure until you can't squeeze it anymore. When you loosen it up it should vent and go back to normal.

If you pull the trigger and hold it down, and the gun completes the cycle, nothing will happen on the release. All the gas has already been expended. It actualy does its job in the middle of the fire cycle, right as the hammer is being blown back into the cocker position.

Try maybe lightly pulling on the trigger. If you're tugging on it, it won't be kicked back into position. That's how it works...the trigger gets kicked into the 'forward' position and your finger is still pressing on it to pull it again for the next shot.

When its working the whole thing shakes.

Edit - Yea, What he said. Just pull it 'enough'.

I came today and started tweakin the rt. I read the advice on how to hold pressure on the trigger and it helped, ALOT. I started out with the adjustment screw all the way clockwise. I then adjusted counter clockwise from there. I found the sweet spot a couple of times. The rest i only shot some bursts. :hug: But this is so much farther along than i was yesterday. I love this thing!!!! I can't wait to put it to the test in my game tomorrow. Thanks everyone for all the help and advice along the way. You guys have helped me out so much. on my 98c, i completely removed the trigger return spring.... put the stiffer sear spring in that comes with the kit, and it became drastically easier to fire full auto.... and the adjustment screw is now very responsive and easy to adjust the speed with...
