Does anyone know how to tell the difference betweens verisons of minis. i've heard the older versions are terrible will the newer versions are great. Ive also heard that there wasa a change in boards how would you tell the difference in that also?

Once upon a time I knew all the ways to tell. Without looking it up, I know the v1 ASA has a single large hole on the bottom, whereas the v2 has 4 smaller holes making it easier to take the tank off. There's other ways, but that's the one I remember off the top of my head.

There is no way to tell which poppet you have between different v2 poppets without opening it up.

Ok thanks but just remembered my proshop came across a quest on their racks that I would love to pick up and then give my ion to my dad but I noticed they had it priced at like 325 I think which seemed high

Thats the new price

somewhere in the line invert also changed the board, I believe it was with the introduction of poppet 3 or 4, nothing major, the on/off button was having issues so they put a better one in it

also besides the purge nut that miller mentioned the other way to tell a gen 1 from a gen 2 is the pressure gauge on them, gen 1s came with a 600 psi gauge and then gen 2s came with a 300 psi gauge.

also, gen 1s came with a metal case, gen 2s came with the cardboard box

unfortunately the only way to tell what poppet is in them is to pull the poppet out, but as long as you know its a gen 2 mini, you can always put poppet 4 in it

and just on a side note, many people call the G2P4s a gen 3 mini, really there is no gen 3 mini (unless you wanted to call the axe a gen 3) so just fyi, you will probably see people saying "gen 3 mini"

Alrite thanks I'm going to proshop in a little bit and checking over the stuff they have and maybe I can post some pics of the stuff they have so you guys can help to narrow it down and I'll be sure to take a pic that quest because I got to admit I love quests for their performance and their looks. And about the price of it do you know what kind upgrades are in it that could bring it to a price of that. Like possibly a 4b bolt, a gold memeber, or what could be on it for it to be so high.

Mini revisions:

V1: Problematic at best
V2: Changed a nut on the ASA, changed the position of an ASA screw, changed the ASA gauge, changed the trigger activation magnet from being glued on to threaded on, changed the poppet from a black to a white nylon.
V2 poppet 3: New poppet.
V3: Revision to the Optimus board fixing the issues of eyes not seeing paint the same color of the breech, new poppet that has a nylon cupseal that is removable, has longer detents with a different detent carrier to keep them from turning sideways as was the issue with both V1 and V2 Minis.
V3.5 (Current gen): New board (Shockwave) which adds the debounce settings and ramp delay settings, self purging ASA but now deals with reg creep. Sounds like there might be a V4 to deal with the regulator creep.

EDIT: I forgot the V3 detent change.

the generations (or versions as you are calling them) have to do with hardware changes, other than that its not a new generation as you can place new parts on the same marker

g2 was the intro of the asa screw and iv heard a few things about the body with the poppet seal being changed a little but nothing confirmed but these are things that are in the metal work of the marker, thats why its a new generation. after those its just bolt on parts that have changed hence why there is no new generation

Actually, you CAN convert a G1 Mini to a G3 Mini as there's nothing stopping you. The G1 cupseal will work in a G3 and vice versa, same goes for the ASA, trigger activation magnet/screw assembly, board, and detents.
