Bored the other day and after reading that everybody removes the internals of the venturi bolt, I decided to do it differently for a change.

Instead of removing completely the internals fins, I reduced and improved the size of them.

I know there is still room for improvement by smoothing out and polishing more, but its good for me for now.

I did not chrono before and after, but I noticed more consistency and better groupings. I could shoot with any barrel be it ported or not, and crank the velocity without worrying about the balls disintegrating when coming out the barrel.

The fins have to much restriction, gave it more angle to the fins, smoothed out all the edges and trimmed it as much as I could.

It seems to flow pressure more evenly, does not seem to be a shock for the paintball when it gets that shot of pressurized air.

if your lightnening the bolt, then you are allowing it to hit the paintball harder than before.....so dont think this is going to be a magic mod that means you will never break paint, in all honestly its making the bolt hit the paint harder

I did not touch the bolt at all, only the fins.

close, basically lets say you have a 1" tube that CO2 is flowing through, if you constrict that CO2 down to a 1/4 inch in one portion and then drill a hole right after that, air will actually be sucked into the hole and flow out the end of the tube with the CO2, but there is no extra air coming into these bolts, they are just flowing the air that is given to them so really its not a venturi effect at all. just fancy marketing with big words that nobody knows what they mean

(CO2 and air used just to differentiate the two flows)

Am I getting flamed here?

It was labeled as venturi as thats how is it called everywhere online be it manuals, sales, tutorials, etc. The bolt is light, but not as light when been removed.

I will do this, I got both bolts with, without and modded venturi. Do some chrono testing keeping all other variables like co2 or hpa, same gun, paintball choice, wind conditions etc.

At end of the day is a restriction in the path, similar to nitrous system jets or "needles".

You're not getting flamed, we're just letting you know that it has been extensively tested before, and the best results come from completely removing the venturi.

OttersSCCustoms had all the data, not sure if the website is still up though

It has been tested removing it completely between the higly restrictive fins and nothing at all, but not reduced thinned out.

I got another one in stock form which I will remove 3 fins and reduced the other ones and perform tests between them. IMO I did notice the difference, better grouping, nicer linear path. I know these are old guns. I got a basically stock on internals besides reg and barrel and a custom body which I use on the field.

Sometimes people play with stock 98s and I grab the vintage ones to have some fun.

The Imagine and the EXT PRO PMI have some sort of "venturi" bolt (and also the ION). Those have some sort of controlled output that are less restrictive than the one w/ the fins in it.

If you can get quantifiable data from a repeatable test, then I'll be impressed

Chrono, use the same paint, use the same marker, just swap out the bolts with different venturi designs (to include stock and empty), and mount the marker so it doesn't move

Your reply is as good as mine, without any factual info its just another respectful opinion. I will anyway test my theory. Right now I am going through an injury which prevents me on doing the tests, but will do so if one of my friends has time to help me out.

Another reason I like the mod is I can use cheaper paint without having to worry about pballs breaking in mid air.
