Well, long story short, my friend plays speedball on a team and asked me to be his sideline coach. One guy quits and he wants to know now if I'm ready for the big leagues. I haven't played in about 5 years (since about early 06 if I recall), so I told him I'd think about it. Fast forward a few weeks to today, and I'm in my Digital Electronics lab with the him again (he's my lab partner). We decide since I'm such the genius that I am and we got done with our lab three hours early that we are gonna make a trip into Pittsburgh to visit Punisher's Paintball. I've never been to the place, but my friend/apparent teammate Brogan has. I was looking for a tank so I can finally finish up and start testing my Impulse (an 2005 version, not a new one) but instead I walked out with not only a tank, but a '08 G3 SE.

I got:
2008 Dangerous Products G3 SE with the upgraded board (two dips, trigger programmable)
68ci 4500 PSI Draxxus Carbon Fiber with a Ninja reg (High pressure)
Dye tank cover for said tank
Final Price: $430 total after tax. thumup:

Pics

Obviously the tank will need rehydro'd within the next year or two, but I'm ok with that (especially since I only paid $100 for it). Any thoughts, ideas on ups, etc?

Edit: sorry for blurry pics, took them on my 'berry and the camera isn't the greatest :p

Wait, you traded your Impulse for this?
What about you making that impulse custom?!

If you don't like the stock trigger than look for a new one, and a new bolt will be good too

no no lol I still have my impulse :p I was picking up an air tank for the imp when I decided to buy this. The imp is still a work-in-progress, I've moved from simple logic chips up to programmable Picaxe controllers. Still waiting on those (the microcontrollers) to come in so i can continue my work. Meanwhile, I was planning on playing with the Imp with the stock board this weekend, and I needed a tank regardless :p

Edit: yeah stock trigger is gonna be gone here pretty soon, and I've heard good things about some of the bolts out there. Dunno how much $$$ I'm gonna sink into it, we'll see how it shoots stock this weekend :p

I don't even know what's with the G3
I shot one here locally and hated it, shot one up in Vegas when I visited and it shot great
Yeah, I think QC issues plagued the original G3. Mine was horrid, my buddies was horrib before he had me bring my tools over his house and replace the board, trigger, and dremel the **** out of the thing to get the trigger to WORK in it...
Another guy I know has one that worked really well out of the box, other than being loud.

Yep from what I've been hearing, the SE bacially is the windows 7 of the G3 line, fixed what shouldn't have been a problem in the first place :p

So far I'm not terribly impressed with the trigger, but that might be a lack of tuning/haven't actually played with it yet. Board is great, once you get the hang of the programming. Can't wait till this Sat when I can gas it up and see how this baby shoots.

should have got a invert mini................ it shoots way smoother nd its a better made gun
It does not shoot WAY smoother. They're very similar in how they shoot. And it's not a better made marker, it's just different.

It's cool guys, the gat is already bought and I'm loving it so far :p now I need a good mask/hopper. I'm gonna try to get some vids this weekend (we'll be playing indoors, which is coincidentally my very first time on a speedball field as well ;-)) so it'll be dark.

I actually just found my old Dye Invisions, they are still in pretty good shape. Might need new lens for them, but other than that they are in grade-a condition. Also found my eggy 2, the board is in great condition as well, might need a new shell though.

Actually, I have a question; while looking around, it seems that the SE has all the parts that mine does internally (red reg seat, upgraded board, the "gold" bolt) but I have yet to see pics of one in pure black like mine is. Usually the eye covers are a grey/white contrast, whereas mine are pure black. Anyone know what I have?

Edit: NVM, figured it out; It is an SE, but it's the Ninja Black edition thumup:

Took it out for it's trial run at a local speedball field (Crazy Dave's). Unfortunately, I couldn't get an accurate scope of it's accuracy or it's efficiency, because the paint field was complete **** (stock barrel is a .690, this paint was in the .683 range, but they weren't even consistent). I was able to dial the regulator into about +-10fps (again, horrible paint/barrel match, to the point where I could see a crown of light around the ball as I put it in my barrel) which I expect to be more around the +-3~5 range after I get my evil pipe kit from Ebay. Accuracy was surprisingly decent, all things considered. I was able to get consistent groupings from about 30 feet away, but beyond that (back can to back can) the balls spread too much (again, it was the paint). I'm going to need to redial this bad boy in once I get the barrel kit in, I expect it to be alot more accurate/efficient once I'm able to get a proper paint/barrel match.

Speedwise this thing kept up completely fine, my reloader 2 fed it no problems at all all day long. eyes worked flawlessly, not a single chop in the gun. I did have a couple barrel breaks, but I'm 99% sure this was also caused by poor paint.

TLDR: took her out, she performed well, just waiting on my barrel kit to come in b4 I can really put up some numbers.
