Well I've kind of stepped away from the "ricer phase" and decided that I want a badass car.

Once I sell my car and some other stuff I'll have around 3k to play with and my dad says he'll help me a thousand or 2 if I get good grades.

I'm looking into Mid-90's Z28 Camaro. The V8 *don't they have the LS1?* with a 6-Speed Manual Tranny. I've found a few for 5,500 and 6k.

I also found an 88' Firebird Formula for 2k, but I won't have the cash in time to buy it.

I looked into Fox Body Stangs with a 5.0, but I hear the gas mileage is HORRIBLE. Atleast with a Z28, I'd get about 17/29 give or take.

Basically I want something that is fairly quick and want to make it sound badass. I'm willing to dish out a few hundred for some new exhuast. Also want it to look nice to pick up chicks in, haha.

Oh yeah and T-Tops = huge plus.

Ok well, first off, congratulations on abandoning the ricer stage...I commend you for that.

Second off, yes the 4th gen Z28 did come with an LS1, but from the years of 1998-2002 if memory serves correct. The 4th gen camaro came with an LT1 from 1993 to 1995 I believe and from 1995 to 1997(8) they came with the LT4 and then came the LS1.

If my years are off, you can always tell the LS1 apart by the easily distinguishable intake

compared to an LT1 (right) or LT4 (left)

Definately would look and sound badass...especially after you pick up a Hooker catback for about 280$ or a flowmaster for about $350. You'll definately be putting down some power with the LS1 if you go for that...hell, the LT1 even puts down some great power. Also, there's pretty much an infinite amount of things you can do to squeeze some extra power out of those engines, so the sky is the limit.

Welcome to the world of real men thumup:

EDIT: Just so you get an idea, with a car like this, you would be making (at the crank) about 310 horsepower with an LT1/LT4 and about 340ft/lbs of torque, and about 345 horsepower with an LS1 and about 350ft/lbs of torque

Compared to say...a newer Honda Civic maybe 140 crank horsepower and 120ft/lbs of crank torque. You would have to put in about $5,000 to $7,000 into a car like that to make it stand a chance against an LS1, and that would HAVE to include a turbo...and then the mileage that the ricers hail as a reason that imports>domestic goes down the ****ter....just some food for thought :D

Word, thanks a bunch for the help.

My friend is also selling his Porche 944, 5spd, 104,000 miles for $1500

It drives fine, needs some front and a little side body work but looks fine.

I've considered buying it but I'm not sure. It's pretty fast for a 4 banger and is RWD.

Unless it's Turbo'd, I wouldn't go for it. A buddy of mine has one w/166k, and some body damage. It had good handling, but I wasn't really impressed with acceleration. But, the car was made for handling, but that N/A 2.4 didn't really have it.
