If you have never owned a marker before, I suggest you start with a lower end blowback like a spyder or azodin. You can learn how to take care of a marker, and then you can buy a nice one. The reason is that a lot of people end up breaking high end markers because they don't know how to take care of them.

Thanks for that advice man yea I hear you on taking care of the marker.. I owned a spyder years ago and keeping it clean care of oiled and ect. Pretty sure I can handle as a few of my buddies been paintballing for 5+ years so I'm sure they could show me anything about caring for the marker that I wouldn't know.. I was just thinking of picking it up as I was looking at the mini empire which at my local shop is $325 then a good hopper then A decent tank I would probably be at $500 or more but advice I'm willing to listen and learn any or all knowledge

Id pass on it, Id also pass on the mini. I owed one, they are solid shooters but overall, they just have so many little things that bother me that added all up I really didnt like the thing. They feel awkward in the hands and do things like use custom sized o-rings rather than industry standard sizes. basically they are just an ass backwards design that empire could have done much better on but chose not to

Click on the link in my sig and scroll down to the mid range markers section. In there I would suggest taking a look at the aura / proton and the rail

also, its not on the list but I would also suggest taking a peek at the etek 3 or 4, they can be found used for around the same price, they will preform just the same if not better than the alias you have up there but there will be other advantages over it (parts, weight, aftermarket etc)

I'll also answer on this, as we're using some different markers and will, between the 2 of us, have a very diverse area of experience.

I currently have:

MacDev Clone GTi
MacDev Clone V2 (full VX upgrade, and GTi upgrades)
Bob Long V1 Victory (with VCOM engine)
Vanguard 2012 Demon (fully upgraded to 2013 specs)
Machine Paintball Vapor v3
Hostile, Inc Rogue+ (fully upgraded to Rogue v2 specs)
Smart Parts Naughty Dogs Shocker (more upgrades than I care to type out).

DM6 as a primary, etek 3 as a backup and a very custom cocker as mind blowing awesome sauce

while I will agree with martix that the vice/protege are better, I wouldnt say by a large margin but there are also two other issues, 1) the vice will more than likely be more expensive, the protege may or may not be and 2) parts, the vice and protege are no longer produced, there still are some parts out there for them but its only going to go down hill from here. Heck, on Bob Long's own site its like they never existed, a quick look through it and there was nothing apparent that even mentions either marker.

I still say etek 3 or 4, parts are still easily available (they really didnt change between the 3 and 4) they shoot extremely well and are tough little markers, you basically have to try to break them to really do any actual harm
