Lets take a look.

Saudi Arabia: 8.528
United States: 8.091
Russia: 7.014
Iran: 3.775
Mexico: 3.560
Norway: 3.408
China: 3.297
Venezuela: 3.137
Canada: 2.749
United Arab Emirates: 2.550
United Kingdom: 2.540
Iraq: 2.377

Top 12 oil producing countries. These are statistics from 2001, before the war in Iraq.

As you can see, Iraq doesn't produce the worlds most oil. It does, however, have a helluva lot in reserves. With our reserves, we could only last about a day.

Why isn't anyone saying that we stole Kuwati oil? They have a ****load of oil. Hell, we liberated them from Iraq not too long ago.

What about The United Arab Emirates? They have a ton too. We could easily overpower the united Arab Emirates AND Kuwait. Why haven't we? Why Iraq?

Mexico produces more a day then Iraq. Those damn Mexicans keep stealing our jobs. HWy don't we do something and take some oil. I mean, we deserve it after letting them hop the fence and take up our jobs!

How about the saudis? Hell, HOW ABOUT THEM?! Most of the terrorists that hijacked airplanes in 9-11 were saudi. ****, Osama is saudi! Lets go and take their oil. They have a helluva lot more Then Iraq.

So how much is the average gas price now? October 10th, 2004. GAs price is 1.99 a gallon.

Now, anybody with a brain can see how much we're pulling the oil out of iraqis hands.

Now, let this foolish 15 year old whos experience in the oil industry is 0, and whos education on it consists of a lecture and 20 minutes of internet research tell you why.

1. The Saudis want more money. So they choke production by a couple million barrels.

2. Oil prices steadily rise.

3. The United States of America releases several million barrels of oil to make the price go down a bit, just to help.

4. SAudis get pissed off and cut it even more

5. We're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Its supply and demand. We need 20 million barrels a day to keep going. The world produces 75 a day. They can charge whatever the hell they want adn we'd pay it. We have to, we're so dependant on it.

We are not getting oil from iraq. A simple walk down to the local gas station will prove that. STop saying it, I dont want to hear it.

We need to work on alternative energy sources. The tech is there, and we have the money, we just need to accept it,.

Why don't you look at the figures from before the UN imposed an OIL EMBARGO on Iraq. Before the war, if Arabic countries turned off the tap, prices could have quadrupled almost instantly... as they did thirty years ago. Now we control a huge oil supply which diminishes the threat of OPEC's "oil weapon."

Also there are 28 countries that produce more oil per capita than the US.

Lets just say the wars for oil.

1. We invade Iraq, liberate it, and take oil.
2. We leave Iraq alone, thousands more die, a threat grows, oil crisis remains the same.

You choose.

2 reasons why you can rest assured we didnt go to war for oil
1- iraq still has control of all of their oil reserves
2- our oil prices have gone UP since the start of the war. They have started going down a little lately, but watch as the cold weather sets in, and we're gonna get screwed again

The idea isn't to drop oil prices for all Americans.. it's to maintain the status quo so the rich keep getting richer. Another OPEC embargo would still be a huge blow to the US economy, but the effect would be cushioned by our control of the Iraqi oil flow. Saying that Iraqis control their oil is laughable. Iraq = our wench.

Can you go a day without making a political thread and starting arguments between two political parties?

Bush is trying to finish what his dad did and get oil in the meantime.

Sure. What did his father not finish? That doesnt even make sense.

And "Get oil in the meantime"? From who? We were already buying it from Saddam. Now we are buying it from the Iraqi people. None of the lefts crazy predictions about "stealing the oil fields have come true".

Though, its ironic that the lefties have been claiming the war on terrorism is really to keep oil prices low.... but when they found out that wasnt true.. they just flip-flopped the story, and kept running with it.

The truth is, we get most of our oil from.. anyone? anyone?

Canada.

S. Arabia is #2, then Mexico is #3 followed by Venezuela.

Despite all this nonsense about the middle-east, nearly all our oil comes from NORTH AMERICA.

We wouldn't have near the problems we have now if the Gulag hadn't gone out of buisiness after the USSR collapsed. Siberia is packed with resources but only slave labor or an enormous amount of money can extract it. A shame we can't make some sort of agreement with russia and use that instead of having the death penalty (a productive death sentance).

We're burning through the reserves in North America at an alarming rate. Look at our consumption compared to the amount of reserves in the US. We're good for about 1000 days on our own supply, after that, we are completely dependent on foreign oil. It is our achilles heel.

In the 70s OPEC throttled supply and quadrupled oil prices overnight. Things have changed since then but not much.

I say we kill a few caribou and drill the hell out of alaska and say the hell with the middle eastern ragheads. Its not just oil though, Its about who owns stock in the producers of weapons. Hmmm Bush owns alot of stock in weapons manufacturers. Hmmm I know lets say Im Bush what would I do? I know start a war with an oil nation or two and drive up the price of oil thereby increasing the price of my own texas stock and put those weapon producing assembly lines into overtime and rake in the dollars. Whats that cost America? Only a few thousand of America's sons and daughters. No big loss. I used to support Bush, but then I learned a thing or two about what motivates him. Not to say I like Kerry cuz I think he's a friggin Moron. Make your vote count, vote independent.

Makes you think maybe gas prices should be going up to encourage people to use it less. Not only are the emissions bad for the environment, but eventually we will consume all the reserves on the planet and be left completely helpless. I'm not a big environmentalist by any means, but something has to be done about the rate at which petroleum products are being consumed.

You tell me that noone has the right to impose their morals upon others, such as in abortion, and now you want me to change my lifestyle to apease your enviromentalist agenda? Make up your minds, liberals.

Oil is an oil does. If the government would stop worrying about it, then supply and demand would take its natural course and all would be saved. American companies would drill in Alaska, countries around the world would beging drilling in order to get that sweet, sweet American cash, and OPEC would be left high and dry. But nooooo. The govt comes and says "NO!" to Alaska, begins slamming companies with emission standards, begins artificially inflating the oil supply so we can still drive our cushy SUVs (not that I'm complaining about that,) and basically starts messing around with what should be left alone.

You can b****, whine, moan, and complain all day to the govt, but everytime they get involved, it just makes things worse. Lets start worrying about social security and welfare. Ya know, those things that make up 50+% of your taxes yet you'll never see in your lifetime?
