Sure, the more dense the fill, the heavier the ball. To propel the ball at the same FPS, you will need more air on the ball. The ball will have more inertia, hence will sting a little more on impact. That is why tournament grade paint seems to hurt more, even though is is a more brittle shell. The fill is thicker to prevent wiping.

Best? That is very subjective. Everyone has their own preference. Keep in mind, even though there are 100+ different brands and grades of paint out there, they are all made by the same 6 or so companies.

No it dosent matter what fill you have. Well some fills suck cause they are just water (if you buy cheap paint). My favorite paintballs are PMI.

The best ball for the price is PMI but the best ball I have shot has gotta be evil but that's just personal preference

Fidn out the bore of your barrel, then go to the barrel and paint forum here... There is a sticky on bore sizes. Click it, and look for paint that fits your bore. Make a list, and post your list, then the people here will help you a bit better.

But becuase all paint is a different size, some paint may be good for one person, but suck for another.
