after "borrowing" a few movies, i noticed that windows media player can not play the file type. wmp will attempt to download the codec, which in my mind is like a patch, or a driver(correct me if in wrong), and "error downloading codec" will appear.

the weird thing is that it will play the audio, and i can line up the audio in wmp with the video in quicktime 7 pro. the audio is broken up in quictime also. is there a way i can get the .avi/.mpg format to play correctly in windows media player?

thanks
aaron.

if VLC doesn't manage to play your video files very well (as in it stutters and jumps frames) you might have a .mkv file. I suggest media player classic and the CCCP codec pack. It plays EVERYTHING.
