So this is probably a pretty nub question, but I somehow got paint from a shot into my halo and under the drive cone. I can't figure out how to get it off and i've searched here, pbnation, and google and couldnt come up with anything. Any help would be appreciated.

I KNOW HOW!!

okay, 1st take off the shells. now remove the whole blue thingy. before you can remove the cone itself you need to locate the TINY screw right above the eyes. It's located about halfway down the raceway (the tube section) right near the tape. This tape is also holding your eyes in, carefully remove it so you can seperate the raceway. Now remove the screw holding the cone down. Ta-da it's off and you can clean it.

Importantwhen you go to put the cone back on you need to put the spring back properly. You'll notice the spring has 2 prongs. 1 high and 1 low. The lower one needs to be hooked onto the little nub of the "cup" (can't recall name atm) the upper arm of the spring will be hooked onto the drivecone itself. Examine the cone and find the tab (there are 4 divider, 1 of them has an extra tab) It is easiest to hook the spring onto the drive cone AFTER the "cup" is already seated and has it's spring set.

At this point you should have the cup in the blue tray with the spring inside. both spring hooks should be on the left side. Bring the drivecone down slowly w/ the tab even farther left. Rotate the tab towards the spring (specifically the top hook) You should be able to catch this hook, and then tilt the cone upwards slightly move it to the right.

What should result is you have the bottom spring hook on the right and the top on the left. There should be tension when you spin the cone in either direction.

It sounds super complicated but is actually just hard to explain.

I just left the spring and other part in place and took the cone off. Went back on and works fine. Though I have 2 new problems. 1- How do you position the spring for the lid so it will hold the lid open? 2- How on earth do you get the nut that holds the battery compartment in place to be on the other side of the battery door???

the spring should be on the outside of the lid. that is when the lid is up the spring can be seen, when the lid is down the spring is hidden.

#2-well, that's all luck really :D i agree, that is the single most frustrating part to get right.
