So I just bought an A-5 that has a R/T on it (still waiting for it to come in the mail). I've used them before but never owned one so I had a few questions. Is it possible to swap out the R/T grip for a stock grip or an E-grip? My buddy has a R/T on his A-5 and when we took off the grip it looked like it was questionable if the gun would operate with a different one. Also how good does the R/T work with the flatline barrel? Thanks for the help guys!

So when I buy an e-grip I can just slap it right on and go? And yes it came with the flatline on there :/ Im not big on those or the R/T but both came on it. It was $100 for the marker with flatline barrel, R/T, fore grip, and commando air thru stock. Luckily I still have my buddies A5 here for parts haha hes got a stock grip and hammer head barrel I plan on throwing on for now.

sure you can put a e-grip on there but the big question is Why? its another $100 and if you have a budget of $200 you can either get a brand new marker that is better than this A-5 or a great mid level marker that again, is way better than the a-5, so why spend half of that on a single upgrade?

you could spend all the money in the world on this a-5 but it will never be as good as a $200 used mid range marker is out of the box, save the money, get a HPA tank and if you want a e-frame and/or more performance start looking into another marker that already has it, not one that you need to modify

I have HPA tanks and its not a definite that I will buy the e grip. I play mostly in the woods with my buddies so I need a reliable gun that works good on CO2 because I go to a paintball field maybe once or twice a year seeing as its a two hour drive away. As stupid as it sounds I like modifying the Tippys to make them look cool as well as work good. I love the milsim deal and I want one thats reliable as well as looks the part. I bought a Smart Parts SP8 on a whim last year because I thought it looked cool and now I think its the biggest piece of crap in the world. I wanted something I could use at home and will always work. My friends have never had any problems with their Tippmanns meanwhile all my guns seem to not want to work when I need them most.

see heres the problem, anytime you make a marker look more like a real gun you are also making it worse as a paintball marker, doesnt matter what you do, body kits make it heavier and usually longer, sights are useless and bi-pods are just added weight.

if you want a reliable marker that can work on co2 look into any spyder, they will give you more performance and features than a tippmann of the same price and be smaller and easier to work on

I can tell you right now if you get a tippmann and start dressing it up the same exact thing is going to happen with it as did your sp8, you will love it when you get it, even after you dump the first $400 on it, but after that you will notice its not actually preforming any differently than when you got it and you just spent 600 on something that is nothing but a look

if you didnt like the SP8 i really suggest you take a step back and ask yourself why are you spending all this money on the look when it has already ended in failure for you, its not like the second time around is going to be any different

I never said I was buying anything else besides a barrel and MAYBE an egrip down the road. Sights/bipods/lasers/etc are stupid and pointless. I agree with you there. I hate my SP8 because of reliability issues. As soon as one thing gets fixed another goes wrong. Out of all my friends who own markers the Tippmanns are the only ones that haven't crapped the bed once. I've owned Spyders and haven't liked em. I've had issues with them as well. I came here with a simple question of whether or not the R/T could be swapped out so thank you for answering that. I did not intend on starting a big debate over what I should spend my money on.
