In a balanced spool valve, you have 2 distinct areas of pressure. High pressure and low. By balancing where those pressures are, the high pressure air is ONLY used to fire the ball, the low pressure is used to cycle it. In the Matrix and Quest, this translates to them using a LPR to adjust the LP, however Droids and Luxe are LPR-less balanced valve spools.

In an unbalanced spool, there is no low pressure air, it's all high pressure.

so an unbalanced would not have a LPR right?(for the most part, im a little confused as to how you get a balanced spool without an lpr on the droid and luxe) thats got to be roufgher on the noid. also means a unbalanced will have more kick right?

Yes, unbalanced spools will generally have a rougher shot, and also get worse efficiency. Things like the Luxe and Droid use a fixed LP...it's still lower pressure, it's just not adjustable. As to how they actually achieve lowering the pressure, absolutely no clue. Never torn into either one enough to say how, and while the Droid's characteristics in it's shot and efficiency does imply balanced spool, the Luxe implies unbalanced. However, I've been reading that the Luxe IS a LPR-less balanced valve. One of these days I'll have to get hold of one and really learn them to see what differentiates them from being just a $1600 talking Shocker.

Shockers don't have LPR's either. As far as toolless removal of everything, I could care less. But it must not be anywhere near that expensive, since the Victory will have that, as well as the internal plumbing, and will cost just a tad under $1200.

hmm, well they must have hired a really expensive voice then to put into the board, iv never heard one (nor do i care to) but it seems to be a shocker with different milling, a talking board, and....well i guess the internal plumbing is only on the upper model....and tooless bolt removal.

sp has their heads up their asses

That's basically been my take. A further evolution of the NXT as the NXT was an evolution of the SFT. It IS smoother than an NXT, it is more efficient than the NXT. But is it in another league? Not IMO. Unless I can tear one apart beside an NXT to really compare their bolt assemblies though, I can't say for sure they didn't change something major in the design.
