Ok I used to not have a cd player in my truck, so I run one of those cassette tape adapters to a normal CD player so I could listen to music. That was ok I guess, but my speakers kept cutting in and out, and sometimes one of them would go out for a few days and then start working again.

Well I just got a cd player for Christmas, and got it installed and everything, and now the speakers are fine. They used to get really bad when I had the music really loud, but not anymore.

My point is that I got new speakers for Christmas because I used to need them, and now I'm thinking I might not. Is it possible for my old problem regarding the speakers to not actually be the speakers fault? That maybe the old tape player just had a bad feed to them or something?

I wouldn't mind returning those speakers for some extra money :D

this is an easy one :D

ok, the reason the sound was crapping out was because your cd player tape kit adapter thing was sending a weak signal to a weak stock head unit, causing the head unit to send clipped (distorted) signals to the speakers. it happened simply becasue you had some weak electronics

now that you have a good head unit, you can send a lot of clean power to the speakers, amking them sound better. i recommend that you install your new speakers if the old ones are stock though, because they are almost guarranteed to sound better (better bass, better highs, better everything really) as long as they are decent.

what kinda of speakers did you get, and are the old ones stock?

The old ones were stock, and my new ones Pioneer 6x8's, 240w, TS-A6880R

I'm thinking I might just take em back anyways since I'm happy with the current sound, and I could get $100 free :D :D
