Hi,I got the new tippmann A5 and recently I changed the spring for the hardest one thinking that was gonna be better but instead the balls go in all directions when the FPS is about 280/320 or they explode in the barrel even though the balls go further,so I low the FPS to about 240 and this doesn't happens anymore but then I have no range!!I dont know anything about springs so please can someone explain or tell me if I should use a softer one and which one should I use to get more range and accuracy!!!Greets!!!

Paintballs aren't bullets they don't have a lot of range and they aren't supposed to have a lot of range. The maximum SAFE velocity of a paintball marker is 300fps that is the field maximum at any commercial field and what smart people play at or under outside of a commercial field. To account for velocity fluctuations most people set their markers at less than 300fps and at about 280fps you will actually get better accuracy.

A spring kit is really more about tinkering to get better consistency and efficiency and only sometimes for velocity for example if you are playing at an indoor field and have trouble getting your velocity down a softer spring is used. The velocity screw on a Tippmann acts as a choke and when you turn it in it reduces air flow and lowers velocity and that air is wasted hurting efficiency. The harder spring you are using is forcing the valve open for longer and letting out larger volumes of air and if you are further reducing the velocity with the screw you are doing everything wrong. What you do with a spring kit is to turn the screw out until it is flush with the inside of the marker and then try different springs until you find one that gets you as close to your desired velocity without using the velocity screw and once you get it close you fine tune it with the screw.

Cranking your velocity is dangerous but aside from that you are blasting a ton of air at those fragile little paintballs and shredding them to bits. The ones that don't get shredded will get dimpled from the air blast and will hook and curve like crazy (as you saw) and if you are already using less than prime paint you don't have a hope in hell of ever hitting anyone. Give up on the sniper dream of long range eliminations and use an appropriate spring and keep it at about 280fps and you will see better results.
