Try asking spudchucker. If I remember correctly, I think I heard him talking about breaking the sound barrier with one of his spud guns. He should be able to help you out.

broke the sound barrier? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! WOW! it sounds like he goes to the punpkin chucker contest anually! wow. yeah, i'll get you a link to the cannon i made. it can shoot over 800 meters. pure secks.

edit: http://members.aol.com/sph911/spud/pneumatic.html

bulid a pnuematic cannon, not combustion (combustion isn't as powerful). and use all the proper sealants other wise it could be fatal. and always use PVC pipe, NOT DWV pipe (it can't hold any pressure and snaps easily)

haha yea i have a 15 foot release exhaust valve pneumatic cannon that sends out mad sonic booms and incinerates whatever i shoot. unless its frozen, anything shot is completely destroyed :D

but yea on a simple level, go to www.spudtech.com and look at the designs he has online. just do a simple combustion gun and youll have plenty of fun until you update your size :D

hey spud, are you serious about the sonic booms? i mean really...do they have plans online for what you built? i have a simple 8 foot ball valve pnuematic cannon, it'll destroy plenty, but damn, how much pressure to you put into it, a full 270psi?

i just have the most efficient design for a pneumatic gun on the market. Instead of having a restricting ball valve to go through, instead the entire end of the back of the barrel opens up, releasing all the air in the chamber instantly. Thats why it is so powerful that the 50 pound gun will get knocked right off the stand. pretty crazy

but yea, build a simple combustion gun (its a lot easier) and use right guard aerosol deoderant spray in the brown can. should be like 3 bucks. it works better than anything else ive ever tried, and it doesnt leave any residue inside the chamber to gum up the spark plug and stuff. Experimet with how much aerosol you put in, and always make sure to air the gun out after each shot so there's plenty of oxygen for the fire inside.

oh yea, make sure you sand all the parts to be glued together, prime them and glue them with glue made for pvc (none of that all purpose junk) never mix pvc with any other type of pipe cause the glue wont mold the two types together
