I don't see why the debate over the Pledge of Allegiance always ends up as a fight about religion. That is not what the Pledge itself was founded upon. It was founded upon the love of one's country, never to forsake it for any other. "one nation under God" is not trying to push anyone towards Christianity, and it DOES deserve to be in there more than Hinduism, Islamicism, and Confucionism. The reason is because this country was founded on Christian values and beliefs, and at the time, it was not so unheard of.Shytkicker said:Could you, for a moment, stop pretending that your religion is better than everyone else- and that it deserves a place in the Pledge more than hinduism, islamicism, or confucism? Or, how about, 'in Buddha we trust'? I'm sure you'd be crazy about that.
As for your rant about the dollar bill, well, I have a little loophole for you. Soft money. Credit cards don't ask you to be a majority religion. Checkbooks don't either.
Not that it matters, though. It's moot. People need money to get by. People don't need pledges injected with mainstream ideology.
I don't bother you when you stand up for your pledge. Don't tread on me when I sit down for mine.
