I have had my tippmann for a few years now and yesterday I decided to finally take it apart and clean it. So after cleaning and oiling it I put it back together. I then put it away; today I put the co2 tank on it and it starts leaking out of the barrel. The co2 is litterally spraying out of the barrel. So, what did I most likely break or mess up...

well definatly the valve is letting co2 through, the question is why? your problem will be most likely be around the power tube. take a good look at the valve and make sure its installed correctly according to your manual. valves are easy to screw up. if the power tube is cracked that is also a common symptom to see

Your probably right, but I never even touched my power tube when I took it apart, and I was just playing the previous week or so. Maybe I didn't break it taking it apart? Also, my tank adapter looks like it isn't screwed in all of the way. My brothers gun doesn't look like that. So, I uploaded a picture, do you think that looks right?

possibly, id wrap a layer or two of teflon tape around it and try it again. that said, just because you didnt touch it doesnt rule it out. i never touched the timing belt on my car but it still managed to split in half like the titanic. your hose to the asa, as long as it is not leaking it fine. all it needs to do is connect the ASA to the rest of the marker and it seems to be doing a fine job of that.

id start with that gas line to your power tube, take it back off, wrap some sealant tape around the threads and try again.

Thanks for the advice.

I um, took the valve out of the power tube and the o-ring looks like it needs replacing. I hope that is the problem. If not, I will just have to buy a new valve.
Also, where can I get teflon tape? Is there a guide on how to do it?

teflon tape is also known as plumbers tape or sealant tape, its at any hardware store you can go to. it usually comes in a blue and white plastic case and is very very thin white film.

all you do is take the hose out, and wrap a few layers of the tape around them taking care not to get any to cover the outlet for the hose itself. not too much or it will not want to thread back on. once you have a few wraps on it re-install it and that should do it

if an o-ring looks like it needs replacing then chanses are its long past due. o-rings are cheap so id just replace it, that could easily be your problem

also, if you dont mide go up to your post with the photo, click edit and remove the photo, that way the margins on this page will return to normal

Thank you, you've been very helpful.

Um, the screws the connect to the power tube from the outside of the gun, am I suppossed to put something on them when I put them back in?
My hand book is very brief and things aren't explained well in it. But, it mentions something about putting something on those screws.

Also, can I use hydraulic jack oil to lube my paintball marker.

My manual says to put red loctite on them, but I don't want to do it if it is permanent. My manual doesn't say it is neccessary, but it doesn't say it isn't either.
Do you think I need it?

The old Tippmann Vertical Adapter kits for the 98 came with a "sample size" red loctite tube for installation.

And they came with Hoppes 9 as lubricant from the factory. I've used that and just about every oil on my first 98C. It still has the original O-rings in it and they all work fine.

You guys worry to much :p

i'm sure hydraulic oil won't hurt it, but it'll be a huge mess to take care of when it's not working correctly.

WD40 will definitely eat at the orings

Vasoline will... I dunno, but it sounds kinky.

Baby oil might work as well, I'm not sure.
