Hi everyone. I just got a tippmann 98. however, when i screw in either the c02 or nitrogen and shoot, it will keep shooting for several seconds without my finger on the trigger. my gun is not automatic or anything. also, most of the time the paintball is not even shot. this must be a problem. i would really like help, i am new to paintball and dont really know what could be wrong.

thank you very much.

Tippmanns aren't very efficient, and because of that, need a higher pressure to recock consistantly. High Pressure HPA tanks put out about 850 psi, and that's right on the edge of recocking a stock Tippmann.

As for the CO2, your tank might be close to being empty. Try refilling it and shooting.

If that doesn't work, you may need to chance some o-rings, nothing too bad.

It's new?

Assuming the CO2 tank was full, and the HPA tank was not low-pressure output
Feed it some oil, the seals may have dried out a little from being in whatever warehouse and store it was in.

You can either take it apart, or the 'other' way: put a couple drops of oil into the small air port on the ASA (tank adapter) and then put the CO2 or HPA tank on. Dry-Fire (no paint, just air) and see if that fixes it. You will want to take off your barrel before doing this or it will have oil sprayed all over the inside of it (bad for accuracy). You may have to repeat it once or twice, after that it is probably something else.
